Question about HP Officejet Pro L7780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Hi, I have an HP Officejet L7780. It prints perfectly with no issues at all however when I turn it on it takes about 13 minutes to finish it's loading/diagnostics. I get the message " Checking device. This process might take several minutes. Do not turn off the device: Do not open or close any covers. I can also hear what i think is the head going from one side to the other constantly. I have been trying to run diagnostics etc however the printer has been like this for months and not it's annoying. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I Would recommend performing a partial reset on the printer, so that printer will initialise completly after resetting.

Partial Reset

  • Remove the power cable from back side of the printer while its ON.
  • Press and hold "#" and "3" button, while holding them both insert the power cable and release the button after 10 seconds.
  • If printer turns OFF, press power button to turn it ON.

Riztech

This is normally caused by a driver issue. Check that your device driver is correct for this particular machine.

Cannot print PDF, pop up asks to print to file and enter an Output File Name

If you have a virtual printer (PDF printer like BullZip, PDFPrint, or something else) maybe it is your default printer and when you chose the option "print" you need to choose the the right printer (in your situation HP Officejet Pro L7780 )
Good luck.

My cyan ink cartridge doesn't print at all but the others work perfectly

if it still has ink in it, try taking out the CYAN cartridge, wetting some paper towel and touching the exit hole on the bottom onto the wet paper towel until it bleeds for a moment or two. Clean the inside of the cartridge holder with that wet towel as well just in case. Try again.

If you open up the tray on the printer you will see a diagram explaining how to clean a small blue screen. I did this with our printer and the problem cleared right up.

I am getting the following error code "00989C98" L7780

Hi this appears to be part of a generic problem possibly caused due to power surges…

As recommended by HP on these types of errors:

1: Disconnect the USB cable from the back of the product, but leave the product turned on.
2. Open the cover of the product and remove the print cartridges.
3. Close the cover and wait for the Insert Ink Cartridges message to display.
4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product and wait for one minute.
5. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button.
6. Open the cover and reinsert the print cartridges.
7. Close the cover. If prompted, print a calibration page.
8. Reconnect the USB cable, and try to print a print job from the computer.

If this works, please grade the answer... If the steps don’t work I would recommend you check with HP.

(the steps highlighted above are from the support website from HP)

My HP Officejet 7410 All-in-One keeps giving me the error message - Scanner failure - Turn power off then on. Turning power off then on, even disconnecting power cord, repeatedly does not solve problem.

Our HP Officejet L7780 displays the "Align Printer" message and then does it automatically wasting several sheets of paper aligning, then the next time we print a page the same message comes back. Is there a way to turn off the "align Printer" message. It is printing ok otherwise.
