It seems as if you have some of your boot priorities out of skew, specifically having booting through your network connection as a higher priority. In order to fix this, you need to go into your bios settings and rearrange the boot settings so that booting from LAN is either disabled or not the top priority and making booting from CD or HDD the top priority.

Hi, I'm installing widows xp in HP Compaq nc6220, but after setup loading files the mesaage (bottom of setup screen) "Setup is starting windows", then it did'nt contiue the installation,...

1 many times the the CD cant load as the files in the CD are corrupt or the CD is not read by the drive corectly...so get a new WinXP CD
2 try an external CD drive if your BIOS alows to boot from USB drive....(connect the external CD drive to the USB and make necessary changes to the BIOS boot seq in the BIOS screen...
BIOS screen can be enabled by pressing the F1, or F2 or the Del key as on as you start the PC
3 once in BIOS screen look for boot seq and change the boot drive to the foll
1st boot device - USB CD / DVD rom drive
2nd boot device - internal CD rom drive
and so on

if you can do the above then try the WinXP installation using the external CD rom drive....
else there is a little complicated method of using a pen drive thru USB (will discuss that later) provided your BIOS alows booting from USB

Sorry for my ignorance, first off, I performed a back up on my HP compaq tc4400, unfortunately I dont have enough momery. . after the back up. . as windows started, something appeared it says, ...

Backups do NOT Erase files ever, well if not done backwards?
NO OS stated, how can any one help lacking that.
TC4400 hard ware. ONLY !

no boot, the HDD will not boot , unstated windows, or is it linux?>
windows what.?
sounds XP like to me...
the book on your PC tells you to use restore to fix, bad loaders.
startup repair its called, on mine its F11.
on Vista back is F10. this key activates

here is what came new.
HP Compaq tc4400 Tablet PC
it came with Windows 2000,XP or Vitsta
its so old it has a SQUARE scree, 4:5 ratio.
the carbon date is as old as, 2006
It is still supported by HP due to it was made for all those years.
and the 10 year clock is not timed out yet on support.s
the books are still on line and the drivers too.

see these books>
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-compaq-tc4400-tablet-pc/1847962/manuals

does BIOS work, press F10 at power on, see BIOS screens
this is first,
then the BIOS then boots the HDD, C: boots.
to repair a good HDD, startup one runs this.

F11 is your hot key, for HP recovery /restore.
page 188 here is the page (PDFPAGE) to read.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00692629

the books says, on that page follow the onscreen instructions
it says that to cop out, as there are 3 OS used, here.
each uses different screens
I too cop out, not doing all 3 now for you.
next time say what OS is there.

on the bottom of said PC
is a COA sticker on said sticker is the MS license
clearly stating what OS is there. (was there day 1)
but if someone upgraded this PC, then the sticker is a lie.

oops but you killed the HDD totally dead of all partitions did you not? Sanitized, word, used.
no name of disk used, my guess is MIL spec erase.

I am trying to restore windows xp on my pc but when i went through the process of formatting the hard drive now windows will not install. Everytime it tries to install I get corrupted files. What am I...

To find if the problem is with the XP disk or the disk unit boot from a Linux Live-CD like http://www.pclinuxos.com/
If you can boot and use without a problem the Linux disk then try using a different XP disk, the one you have now appears to be scratched or faded.

Windows not booting

Hello,

Regarding on your problem, the main issue their is the booting problem of XP after you delete the fedora operating system. That's common problem especially when the computer are in dual boot OS then you delete the other OS. Now, the reason why it usually fall into this problem its just because the XP is your core OS then you install Linux Fedora inside in XP so whatever changes you have done in fedora particularly deleting Linux OS inside XP affects the overall performance of your XP and eventually if you delete the Fedora without proper unistallation process done by Linux OS then the Boot Loader of your XP will also corrupt or delete that's the main cause of boot failure in your XP OS. Now the best solution there is to repair your XP by inserting the XP CD Installer and boot the CD to repair your OS or you can reinstall the XP OS without formatting the storage to prevent the lost of your data that has not yet already copyed a back up.

Please do this recommendation to save and restore your XP.

thanks

Is it possible to install 2nd 0/s on separate hard drive 40gb,id not sata attached via usb with laptop of dell inspiron 1525 c2d give steps to install

It depends what kind of SO do you want to install

I recommend you to user an USB Linux distro.

Anyway, normally when installing any SO lets you select the partition where you want to install the SO.
Select the partition belonging to the USB External HD, and do everything else normally.

You must have in mind that you will lose everything in the USB HD, and that using it this way the OS will work only when the HD is plugged to the same PC, it may work with a different PC with different hardware but the SO will install the new drivers for the new hardware.

That's why I recommend you to use linux, check this out www.pendrivelinux.com/

HP Pavilion ze5500 - Laptop won't recognize hard drive.

Hi. Once I had this similar problem with a HP Pavilion dv9000. "No Operating System"; "Windows Recovery Console cannot continue because there's no HD present..press F3 to Exit". No progress with Safe Mode nor Command Prompt, etc.
Then I went to the Bios, change tab to "System Configuration" and change the "Sata Native Support" to disable, whitch says that by changing to disable the HD would work better if the Operating System are Win2000 and Win9x.
Hit "Safe and Exit" and the computer started normaly!
I relly don't know how or why. It just work.
I don't know if would work for Linux (mine had Windows XP) and don't know the Bios view of your laptop. But you can explore and give it a try.
Hope this helps.
God Bless You!

I want to install windows xp sp2 instead of windows vista. there is inbuilt windows vista for my laptop hp compaq 6720s.plz healp me how can i install windows xp.

It's a relatively simply procedure, 1st download all of the necessary drivers for your laptop from Compaq's website under the support section. You'll want the drivers for Window's XP. Either burn these drivers to a CD or place them on a flash drive. Also if you already have documents or data on the laptop that you would like to keep you'll need to back that up as well to either a CD/DVD or a flash drive.

Next you'll need a Windows XP installer disk. Place the disk in your laptop and reboot. The system should prompt you, asking you if you'd like to boot off of the CD press any key. Hit any key and the computer should boot from the XP CD. The system will take a while as it loads up the installer shell. If the system does not boot from the CD you will need to go into the BIOS or CMOS and change the boot order for the computer to make the CDROM or DVD ROM the 1st boot device. The 1st prompt on the installer should be a license agreement, hit F8 to continue. The next steps will pretty much be up to you. Things like where you want to install windows XP, do you want to format the drive, etc. This sounds like your 1st install so you may want to leave everything as default. Windows should detect your Vista install and by default install it as a seperate installation allowing you to boot into either OS.

After the OS has prepared the hard disk and copied all files the computer will reboot and will boot into a installer kernel and will prompt you for even more selections. This process will take longer than the initial portion and most of these settings you can leave at default as well. When this part is complete the system will reboot again and your installation of XP should be complete.

When the system boots into windows it will ask you to create a user name, create a user name or multiple ones. Put in your driver CD or flash drive and proceed to restore your files and install your drivers. That's the revised version of it anyway.

Good Luck!
