Hp 5550 patchy print

Most of the cases fuser assembly or supplies are causes of ghost image. If image is not properly transferring on media causes transfer roller or ETB.
Do this small exercise: Give print command, wait till paper grabs, once paper entered in cartridge area, power it off, open top & front cover, remove paper and see the print quality.Observed any ghost image what you observed? No ghost image? then problem with fuser assembly..

1.Remove fuser assembly, check any toner particles deposited on surface of fuser transfer roller or heater roller.. if found clean carefully with good cotton cloth while fuser having certain temperature,pl avoid metal & sharp objects to clean..
2. Clean paper path roller(You can observe the rollers to push the paper to reach the destination)
I hope this exercise will resolves the issue..

RICOH FW740 is printing with a ghost image. Can I clean it myself?

Ghost images appear on the printed page because of bad cleaning blade or improper charging of the drum unit. Ghost images appear on the next printed page if cleaning blade does not clean the drum surface. Drum/ photoconductor is very sensitive to light, so special care should taken while pulling it out. Ghosting

Normally ghosting is caused by a bad fuser.
Put paper in the manual feed tray(tray 1)
Print something. As the paper gets 1/2 way into the printer, open the cover..
Look at the paper. If there is no ghosting, the fuser is bad. If there is ghosting, could be a cartridge drum.
Follow these steps print a Print quality troubleshooting page to identify which print cartridge is causing the issue.
  1. Open Toolbox .
  2. Click the Help folder, and then click the Troubleshooting page.
  3. Click Print , to print the page. The page prints five bands of color, which are divided into four overlapping sections. By examining each section, you can isolate the problem to a particular print cartridge. Figure 4: Print quality troubleshooting page bandsc01417618.gif 1 - Yellow 2 - Cyan 3 - Black 4 - Magenta

I am getting ghost images when printing. I just replaced the toner cartridge.

Image ghosting is caused in most cases by one of two problems:

1. the toner cartridge is bad.
2. The fuser is bad.

If you just replaced the cartridge and it was printing fine before you did that then the easiest troubleshooting is to put another cartridge in the printer. Is this an HP 3300 series all in one or an HP 1200 by any chance? Are you using refilled or reman cartridges? If yes, then the answer is that a lot of the 3rd party cartridges we come across cause this problem and it comes down to the quality of the toner. For some of our clients we have had to move them to OEM cartridges in order to maintain print quality they expect.

Poor print quality

The "ghost" image is "burned" onto the drum.

A laser printer is supposed to charge specific "dots" on the drum, and the toner-ink is supposed to stick only to those "dots", the paper is pressed against the drum, and then the "fuser" uses heat to "melt" the toner-ink onto the paper, to produce the printed page.

You need to replace the drum.

I am getting a ghost image of what I am printing repeating down the center of the page.

i would say ghost image is more likelly your imaging drum.

some printers have the imaging drum built into the cartridge some have it separate.

i would say try another cartridge

also don't trust remanufactured cartridges if you are concerned with print quality.
