ASUS P5GZ-MX: Cmos Settings Wrong - Tryed New Cmos battery and setting time a date howto fix ?

It may just be that the new battery needs to be charged. I would leave it switched on for 24 hours to check. If this doesn't fix the problem, it could also be a failing BIOS chip or the charging circuit for the CMOS battery has failed. If the BIOS chip is not socketed or the cmos charging circuit has failed, you will need to replace the motherboard or find an electronics engineer to replace the failed components, this will probably be more expensive that a new board.

I have asus p5gc-mx motherboard when i start my pc it show some mess like,,,,,00 mass storage devices found and configured ,,,,and CMOS checksum BAD ,,,,,,,,, somebody know what is this and help me to fix...

Hi,

Checksum errors are almost always an indication of RAM problems. Have you replaced the RAM lately? Or perhaps had modules out and not reinstalled properly? Is this a new board?

No mass storage devices looks like there are problems with connections or hardware problems with your hard drive.

Are you setting up a new board or did this just happen out of the blue?

Can you get into the BIOS setup when it begins booting?

Any other information would be helpful.

Chasis intruded ,after changing cmos battery also the sameproblem

Either jumper the chassis intrusion header on the motherboard with a striaght jumper(like you'd find on a hard drive), or, easier, somewhere in the bios setup you can set Chassis Intrusion detection or reporting to disable.

CMOS settings retain data such as system clock, CPU and FSB speeds and so on. That error can come from a bad CMOS battery. This a circle batteries easily found on your mainboard and can purchase at almost any retail store.

Failure in boot up after updating p4xp-x

Hi rouzbeh_be20, you can try clearing the bios jumper & removing the cmos battery. (Do not forget to re-set the bios jumper back to normal).
Check the battery for 3 volts DC. If the battery is less than 3 volts DC replace the battery. You can call Asus & ask for a replacement bios chip. Your board was made back in 2003 but Asus can flash a bios for you. The last time I ordered a bios from Asus it cost me $5.00 US not including shipping. You can call Asus California M-F 8:00AM. to 5:00PM. PST. At ( 510-739-3777 ). Only the CA site can order a bios for you.
Tech support live chat; http://livesupport.asus.com/
Write down the SN# found on the pink parallel port (In side the case). Asus will want that information.
Having the bios chip replaced is the cheapest way around this issue.

Good luck rouzbeh_be20!
Thank you for using fixya.
