Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Cannot view folders when connect camera with memory card to PC via USB after a trojan horse infected my memory card. However, by typing the folder name (e.g. E:\PRIVATE) I can see that the video files are present in the folders therein. The problem is that I cannot use the Panasonic PHOTOfunSTUDIO to acquire these files as it cannot see the folders.

Hi - I followed the steps, but it doesn't solve the problem.

My anti-virus software had already removed from the virus from the memory card, so following the steps and runnign the smart virus remover on the USB drive simply confirmed that there was no virus present. However, the DCIM and PRIVATE files are still hidden. I can see them if I type "E:\PRIVATE" or "E:\DCIM" in the explorer address field. However, the Panasonic PHOTOfunSTUDIO software cannot see these files (even if I set folder options through explorer to "view hidden folders"). Since I can only play the videos within the PRIVATE folder if I can acquire them through PHOTOfunSTUDIO, the result is I can't play the videos.

This solution didn't solve the specific problem as the latest program did not recover the video files. Instead, I copied these to a different memory stick then aquired them in PHOTOfunSTUDIO from the new memory stick.

However, the program for recovering files was interesting as it showed files that I had previously deleted.

I have lost instruction booklet and don't have a clue how to download photos from camera to my PC

You should be able to download a user manual for your camera from the manufacturers website, just follow links for support and downloads. You may have to enter the model details of your camera as you go.

With most PC's now, all you need to do is connect your camera to your PC via a USB cable and switch it on and wait. The PC should detect the camera and ask you how to you want to view the files. Choose the folder option, continue drilling down through the folders till you get to your photos.

If a menu doesn't pop up, click on My computer, the camera should appear as an extra hard drive. Click on and open the folders.

If your pc has a card reader, you can take the memory card out of the camera and put it in the card reader slot, click on my computer. The card should appear as an extra hard drive. Click on and open the folders.

I cannot transfer photos from camera to pc, connecting using usb cable. the computer indicates that the folder is empty when viewing folders from the removable disks. but photos does exists in the memory...

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

My computer recognizes that I have 1.8 GB left on the disk but when I try to download songs it claims that the disk if full. What do I do?

Good day sir/maam, hi, your SD card may be infected by a virus that wont allow anymore software or files to be stored on the disk, run a virus scan on your PC, there is an easy way to check if your PC is infected, to check, on the my computer menu bar click tools, folder options, view, select show hidden files and folder, then apply, close the window, Now go back to the folder option, view and check the show hidden files, its changed. and goes back to not show hidden files. If this happens, download AVG anti virus and scan your computer.

All the pictures i had have disappeared and my memory card says no images! when i tried to get them processed it just kept counting up images to over a thousand..

Hi. The most probable cause for this problem is a virus. Your memory card might be infected and the virus might have hidden your files. You can check this by scanning the memory card using an updated antivirus, then unhiding all hidden files. To do this (after scanning the memory card), open Windows Explorer, go to "Tools >> Folder Options >> View" On the advanced settings, Hidden Files and Folders option, click the "Show hidden files and folders" button. Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". Click OK to save the settings.
Now go to your memory card via "My Computer" or Windows Explorer to view the files (images). You can unhide them so they may be accessible again.
Hope this helps.

How do i download music from my pc to my memory card

firstly u'll need a medium to connect ur memory card to the PC like a CardReader connected via USB ora compatabl Camera or phone which connects to the PC and gives you folder access to the memory card

once you have the folder access to the memory card you transfer data (music, photos, word files etc) just as you copy paste them from one drive to another or from one folder to another folder

Cannot access folders- folders not shown

You have to make Disinfection in order to be able to open your folders.

First of all go to http://www.precisesecurity.com/tools-resources/adware-tools/flash-disinfector/

And You'll see Download Here:
Flash Disinfector <<<< Hit it
Save it to your Desktop

Now Turn OFF any Antivirus.

Connect the wire of iRiver X20 MP3 Player to your computer.

Go to "Flash Disinfector" on your desktop, and double click it. Hold on 10 seconds the screen will disappear, then everything will work properly.

Now you can open your folders, but you are highly recommended NOT to only disinfect it but also to remove it, because it's a trojan virus that calls autorun.inf << generic trojan horse that affect your AutoRun of the drives.

Run Your explorer as Administrator and
Go to http://www.bitdefender.com/scanner/online/free.html

do Online scanning. It will automatically detect the trojan and any other virus in case this trojan is worm and affected other files, so everything will be removed automatically.

Also, you are highly recommended to restart your PC when the Online Scanner is done.

This will work 100%

Virus

Looks like you have a trojan horse in your PC.

Steps To Remove It.

Step1: Disconnect the PC from the internet.
Step2: Use a different pc or laptop to download a good antivirus trial version and install it in the infected pc.
Step3: Scan all the files until you find the trojan horse(WARNING THERE WILL BE A LOT OF INFECTED FILES!)
Step4: Remove All found infections and restart your PC.
Step5: Now that the ttrojan is removed you PC should be fine. if it is not then you will need to flash your hard drive and pc. reinstall windows and start all over.

Hope this helped.

Please help

Hi

The camera creates its own folder named " DCIM " during the initial Format process
New folders would be created in this folder. To recover your lost images

Try removing the memory card and connecting it via a card reader/usb adapter to browse the contents of the card. Save all pictures elsewhere on your PC.

But chances are when you created the new folder the camera may have deleted the contents of the default folder. (the previous existing photos)

Save any photos you can find & re-format the memory card using Camera settings menu.
