When I try to scan a document it says downloading application list then i says cannot retrieve list

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Frequently, issues are caused simply by a break in the signal sent from PC to printer or vice versa. Unplugging and re-plugging the printer allows the small amount of on-board memory on the printer to be cleared, with the result that the PC recognizes the machine properly. Programs continuing to run in the background of the operating system (OS) can cause the signal to be lost. Rebooting the PC ends all programs that may be running and makes a 'clean' start, allowing the signal to be detected.

Lexmark x5650 cannot retrieve application list


A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
  7. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

I can't scan. It says 'Downloading Application List'. Then it says 'Cannot retrieve application list'. What do I do?


You need to reinstal application for scaning documents, it is provided by the manufacturer of the scan device.

I want to scan a document. I click Scan Mode. The printer responds, "Retreiving Application List," then "Cannot Retrieve Application List."


A problem occurs with your scan driver. You will need to reinstall it to correct the problem.

Another way to scan is to use the scanner option in your computer. Go to Control Panel. Double click the Scanners & Cameras icon. Feed your documents in the printer before starting the scan process.

My printer wont scan every time i try it says can not retrieve application list what does this mean?


Please follow the steps given below to add applications to Imaging studio:
1. Open the Imaging Studio and then click "scan," after the scanned document appears as a preview.
2. Click "Other Software" at the bottom.
3. That will open up the list of application list, to modify the application list, click on "Modify Application List".
4. Please add the application you want to scan and click on "Close."

No its seem to be some software clashed problem! Try to remove your old software and then try to clean registry and then install again then it should work!
