Only getting about 10 hours standby on Blackberry 8520

Hi one reason batterys dont last as long as they should is that when you charge them up they never achieve full charge and some cells will only take between 50 and 65 % charge, what you should now try is letting the battery go totally flat so that your phone wont even light up when you try switching it on keep doing this until the battery is totally dead, then give it a full recharge, you should now find it lasts a lot longer, you should aim to do this once a month to ensure you battery stays at its best, they dont tell you this when you buy the phone but it is common knowledge in the phone industry.

give it a try and you should be surprised what you find.

How ever you cant always believe what the phone adverts tell you because their are heavy duty batteries you can buy for certain phones, but if you think you have a good case of false advertisement then contact the phones makers and have a word with them they may even send you some free extras as they like to keep their customers happy,

You also got to remember that standby time means 17 days if the phone is not used and no one rings it say you take the sim card out then give it full charge, then with the sim card out see how long the battery lasts then this will give you some idea of the things that use the battery up such as alarms, people ringing, texts, even when you press a button this uses power to light the screen up so you can only rely on standby time if the phone is sitting their doing nothing.

i hope this as been some help to you

My sony reader is frozen. I cvharged it

The Reader may not turn on, or it may appear to be frozen if the unit needs to be reset, the battery is completely discharged or moisture condensation has occurred.
Please perform the below mentioned steps and check whether it helps.
Because each of these steps represents a possible solution to this issue, check the Reader status after completing each step.

1. Connect the Reader to a USB connection or optional AC adapter. Allow approximately 5 min for it to turn on. If it does not turn on automatically, try to turn it on again. If it still does not turn on, continue with the rest of this procedure.
2. Perform a soft reset. Just press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object
3. After the RESET button has been pressed, slide the POWER switch to activate the Reader again. If the Indicator light next to the power button on the Reader is yellow , the unit is attempting to start up. If this is the case, allow it a few moments to complete startup.
4. If startup did not complete, connect the Reader to the computer or optional AC adapter and perform a soft reset again.
5. Disconnect the Reader from the computer (if applicable) and then slide the POWER switch to activate the Reader. Check if the Indicator light next to the power switch on the Reader is yellow (indicating it is turning on) and if the unit is responding.
6. If the unit is not responding but Starting up... is displayed on the screen, attempt a hard reset.
7. If the unit is still frozen, connect it again to the computer or optional AC adapter and while connected, check if the Indicator light next to the power switch on the reader is red . If this light is red , allow the Reader to charge for one hour so there is sufficient charge for troubleshooting.

* If your computer goes into hibernation or sleep mode, charging will stop and the red charge indicator on the Reader will turn off.
* It is recommended to charge the Reader while you are using the computer or to adjust your sleep/hibernation settings of your computer to avoid any interruption in the charging process. You also can use the optional AC Adapter model ACS-5220E.
8. Once the Reader has sufficient charge, perform these troubleshooting steps again.
9. Under certain circumstances, moisture condensation can occur. Moisture condensation can be caused by moving the Reader between temperature extremes or if the Reader has come in direct contact with moisture. If you suspect moisture as the cause, allow the Reader to sit for a few hours before attempting to turn it back on.

General notes regarding the battery status:
* You can verify the charge status by disconnecting the Reader from the computer and checking the battery indicator. The battery indicator will display 4 black bars when it is fully charged.
* It will take approximately 4 hours to achieve a full charge with a computer. It will take approximately 2 hours to achieve a full charge with the optional AC Adapter.

If the issue still persists, service of the Reader is required. Please follow the below link to get it repaired:

No power to my ICN 520

Have you tried the reset hole? make sure there is nothing stuck in there that could be pressing on the button. When you press and hold the reset button the screen stays blank.

If you press the reset button does the unit turn on? Mine turns on when I press the reset button even after I turn the battery off then back on.

Hope this suggestion might help you restore functionality.

Wont turn on

I faced the same problem.
Here is the detailed answer I received from Garmin support. It worked for me!

Please put the 305 on to charge. If the screen is blank, press and hold the Mode button and then press the Lap/reset button as well and hold them both for 2 or 3 seconds. After a few seconds you should see the "battery charging in progress" message. Then leave it to charge for 30 mins. While it is charging, download your training history to your PC.

Once it has charged for a while. Remove it from the charger and switch the unit off.

Press and hold the Mode button and then press the Lap/reset button as well and hold them both for 2 or 3 seconds.

Then press and hold the Mode button again and this time also press and hold the Power button. The unit should switch on and have a message on the screen saying ?Do you really wish to erase all user data?. Select YES and press enter. The unit will reboot and ask you some questions including if you have a heart rate and cadence sensor.

I then asked them again:

Before I do the 2nd step which resets the data, will it erase only the training data (tracks etc.), or also all the other user data like profile and such?
If yes, are these can be backed up too?

Why is the complete reset required if the Edge is back to life? Do you suspect some data corruption or inconsistency?

And they replied:

The complete reset is required because this could occur again in a few days time. The complete reset will wipe everything including history, workouts, courses, user profile, data field settings and almanac data.

The first time you connect the GPS to your PC after doing the reset you will get a message saying that the profile on the device is different from the profile in the program. You will need to choose to keep the profile in the program which will then transfer your user profile back into the GPS from Training Center.
