Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have an Accurian 3223. I can't finalize the discs (4). When I go to tools, then finalize, press enter, I receive "change disc". This has never happened before. This is of utmost importance. In the event that finalization can't be done, would I be able to unplug the unit and take it to another location to playback what was recorded. The event was recorded using the HDD mode. I recorded using a CD-R disc

I'm assuming that the disk was properly recorded, otherwise there is nothing you can do, that disk is a coaster and all in it that hasn't been kept on the HDD is lost. To confirm that try to burn another disk and see if it delivers the same result. If you haven't kept a backup you could try top recover them by using ISOBuster or
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Back-Up-and-Recovery/CD-Recovery-Toolbox-Free.shtml
The error is caused by the firmware, it no longer recognizes the disk - hardware failure, either in the processor or the EPROM (the chip that stores it). The unit is dying and it will be cheaper just to replace it than to try to repair it.
But recovering all the data/movies will be easy - even if the unit dies completely the HDD still has all the recorded programs in it and to access them all you have to do is to take it out , put in in an external HDD case, then connect and access it with whatever pc you have.

No option to finalize disc

Either the disc is already finalized or there isn't enough space on the disc for finalization. Check if you have Auto-finalize enabled. Press Setup and go to the line "General Settings" with the up/down arrows. Press Enter. Then select Recording and Enter. Go to the Auto Finalize line and press Enter. Check both Disc Full and End of Timer Rec and see if these are set to On or Off. This option is explained on page 27 of the manual (page 29 of the PDF available from Funai Service http://www.funaiservice.com/manuals/SYLVANIA/ZC320SL8/ZC320SL8.PDF ). Remember that the finalization takes 20-50 MB on the disc.

I hope this helps.

I have a Toshiba SD-K730 DVD Player I am trying to set the Parental Lock limit what type of movies are viewed. Can you help?

Parental control setting

Some discs are specified not suitable for children. Such

discs can be limited not to play back with the unit.

1) Press C or D to select "Parental", then press B

or A until the level you require appears.

Level Off: The parental control setting does not

function.

Level 8: All DVD software can be played back.

Level 1: DVD software for adults cannot be

played back.

Select from the level 1 to level 8. The limitation will

be more severe as the level number is lower.

2) Press C or D to select "Password".

Press Number buttons (0-9) to input a 4-digit

password. Be sure to remember this number!

• If you input a wrong number, press CLEAR.

3) Press ENTER to store the password.

Note: Now the rating is locked and the setting cannot

be changed unless you enter the correct pass

word.

4) Press OPEN/CLOSE to activate Parental control

setting. (See "Temporary disabling of rating level by

DVD disc" on page 36.)

Notes:

• Depending on the discs, the unit cannot limit playback.

• Some discs may not be encoded with specific rating

level information though its disc jacket says "adult." For
those discs, the age restriction will not work.

To change the parental level

1) Press C or D to select "Password".

2) Press Number buttons (0-9) to enter the password

you have stored.

3) Press ENTER.

• The rating is now unlocked.

4) Press C or D to select "Parental", then press B

or A to change the parental level.

5) Press C or D to select "Password", then press

Number buttons (0-9) to enter the password.

Note: You can change the password if you want.

6) Press ENTER.
Now the parental level is changed and locked.

If you forget the password...

1. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray.

2. Remove the disc.

3. Press OPEN/CLOSE again to close the disc tray.
"No Disc" appears on the screen.

4. While holding STOP down on the front panel,

press 7 on the remote control. "PASSWORD

CLEAR" appears on the screen.
5. Enter a new password again.

hope this helps

Please send finalize directions

To finalize a disc:
First make sure that you left enough space after recording to the disc. Press Stop or Disc-Menu (during playback). Select the first title with the Up arrow or Stop. Then press the Up arrow to get the Disc Information. Then press the right arrow to enter Settings For. Then use the up/down arrows to select Finalize disc and select OK to confirm.

This option will only be available for unfinalized discs that were recorded to by this DVD recorder. If the disc was created on another unit you may be able to finalize it with the Finalize feature in the main menu. (Tools (icon has a hammer and a wrench) > Features).

You can get the manual here: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=DVDR77/17&scy=us&slg=en . See page 82 (page 94 in the pdf).

I hope this helps.

CAN RECORD FROM VCR TO DVD+R, CAN PLAY DVD ON SAME, BUT CANNOT PLAY ON OTHER DISC PLAYERS. I THINK THAT THIS IS BECAUSE I AM NOT FINALIZING CORRECTLY. WHEN AND HOW DO I FINALIZE A NEWLY RECORDED DISC?...

Usually you finalize the disc after loading it with all the desired content (leaving a bit of space for the finalization). So if you are recording a TV show, depending on the setting (SP, LP, XP), you might finalize the disc after recording 4 1/2 shows. The How may vary by model but on my DVD recorder, I find the finalize command in the same menu area as adding a title and initializing a DVD-RW disc. So I press Setup to enter the OSD menu, then go down to Disc (looks like an optical disc) then right arrow to enter the sub menu. Then press down to Disc Finalize and the right arrow again and press enter. Select OK and Enter again. (RW discs can be unfinalized to add more content.) Then wait until the process is done.

I hope this helps.

HOW TO FINALIZE THE DVD CASSETE AND CONNECT TO T.V SET?

Finalising a disc enables the disc to be played on any other compatible machine. By doing this it changes the disc format so that you can no longer record to it turning it into a Play Only disc. On your Panasonic DVD Recorder you can record to many (if not all depending on the model) of the following DVD Disc formats to the limit of their capacity over multiple occasions. The disc in question can be played back and recorded to on the DVD Recorder during this time but until it is finalised it will not work on any other machine.
DVD Formats: DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, DVD+R, DVD+RW.
How do I Finalise my disc?
  1. When you have finished the initial recording stop the disc and press the ~FUNCTIONS~button.
  2. Using the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad select "To Others" and press~ENTER~.
  3. Using the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad Scroll down to "DISC MANAGEMENT" and press ~ENTER~.
  4. When the disc management screen opens you need to use the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad to scroll down to "FINALIZE" and press ~ENTER~.
  5. Using the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad select "YES" and press~ENTER~.
  6. Using the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad select "START" to begin finalizing the disc, please note by pressing start here you will no longer be able to record or edit the disc being finalized.
Finalizing may take up to 15 minutes.
Do not disconnect the mains power in this time. A message appears when finalizing is finished, press the enter button when this appears. It will now play on other compatible machines.

CD Changer will not load disc. Cycles through all 6 discs then shows code 2. The unit is not damaged and disc holder loads as normal. tried a light pressure and a harder pressure when loading, result is...

Try the following

Step 1. You need a kenwood remote that has aphone style keypad(there are many of them they have numbers and letters like a phone pad)

Step2. Turn your radio on.... it will say ENTER CODE---- and look like this CODE----

Step3. Press and hold the DISP button and the volume up button at the same time for about 4 to 5 seconds, if you did this right you will be confirmed with a beep and the screen will change from CODE---- to CODE.

Step4. Your halfway there once you get to this far... now all you have to do is enter KCAR with the remote like your texting on a cellphone

Step5. To do this press the number 5 button, you will notice that a J will appear on the screen so just press it again and aK will appear to enter the K press the track forward button >>, then press the 2 for C and so on and so on til you spell KCAR...

The 6th and final step... press the track forward button once more to enter the code and there you have it

let me know if this does or doesn't work

Samsung R155 Recording from VHS Issues

The reason why you are having this problem is because you haven't finalized the disc. In able for you to play that Burned DVD that you have you need to Finalized the disc. Finalizing a recordable optical disc means writing the disc's lead-in (the Table of Contents or TOC) and lead-out information (blank data that fills up the unused space at the end of the disc) so that a DVD player will know where the various tracks begin and end. Without the TOC, a conventional DVD player will not be able to read the contents of the disc. Once the disc is finalized, no more information can be written to it. Finalizing takes about two or three minutes. To finalize a DVD-RW/DVD-R: 1. Press the Menu button with the disc stopped. 2. Select Disc Manager and press Enter or the right arrow. 3. Select Disc Finalize and press Enter or the right arrow. You will be asked twice if you are sure that you want to finalize the disc. Select Yes and press Enter. Once the disc is finalized, you cannot delete entries from the record list. After being finalized, the DVD-R/DVD-RW (video mode) operates in the same manner as a DVD-Video. Recorded discs must be finalized in order to play back in non-Samsung DVD players. A DVD-RW disc that has been recorded by DAO (disk-at-once mode) in a PC cannot be unfinalized. A DVD-RW disc that has been recorded in Video Mode on a non-Samsung recorder cannot be unfinalized by a Samsung recorder. A DVD-R disc cannot be unfinalized. Note: Finalization does not apply to DVD-RAM. If you cannot finalize a DVD-R or DVD-RW disc, make sure that Disc Protection is turned off. If you are still having difficulty, you may try calling technical support of SAMSUNG. Note: Do not turn the recorder off while it is finalizing the disc. Data on the disc will be damaged if the finalization process is interrupted.
