Open the top again but use a Q-tip with alcohol and clean the laser. Make sure the dvd is spinning too because it could also be a bad motor.

You can try blowing it out with a compressed-air can for this purpose,
at an audio or electronic supply house. It should come with an attachment that guides the air, a little plastic tube that is inserted in the sprayer of the areosol can.

LG HDD DVD recorder RH7521W is not able to read the disc. It gives unknown disc error for all the discs. I tried disc cleaning cd also.

Mine had a similar problem. I assumed there might be some dust on the laser. I used an air compressor and pointed it at the DVD slot as it was opening and closing to blow some air around inside the unit (and hopefully dislodge any dust). It worked. The discs that would not play before did play after. I didn't have the air compressor nozzle too close to the opening as I didn't want to dislodge anything I wasn't supposed to. If it was dust on the laser, you might be able to clean it in other ways, such as removing the cover and using a cotton tip (take power off first!). That would have been my approach if I didn't have an air compressor.

After i insert DVD it reads then say HO2 then STOP= how do i fix this

You will need to get a can of the compressed air or use an air compressor if you have one. Then remove the housing cover if you can and use the compressed air to blow out any dust and debris inside the unit. Also blow air into the inside of the dvd tray. This has been the common fix for the HO2 error on your DVD player. You could also use a DVD lens cleaning kit.

Sony DVP-NC600 Multi-disc DVD Player No Disc Error

The only other thing I can suggest, having repaired many Sony CD/DVD players, is to get a can of compressed air and try to blow any dust out from the laser assembly. Since you've already cleaned the lens (the most common problem), you also might have dust down inside the assembly. Try blowing with the air nozzle down inside, around the gap between the lens and the cover surrounding it. Do it from at least a couple of inches away, if the air is too powerful you can damage the wiring inside the assembly.

If this fails to correct the problem, your laser output may have diminished over time and the only repair is to install a new laser assembly. The cost of this part will most likely not be worth it to you since the unit is quite old now.

When I try to watch ANY DVD, after loading, the screen says "bad disc"

Sounds like you need to clean the optical lens on the inside of your player. You can do this the easy way and purchase a dvd cleaning disk or you can remove the cover of the dvd player, there will be a couple of screws on the side and a couple on the back. Once you have done that, open the cd tray and unplug your player from the outlet. Now take some cu-tips and a small amount of rubbing alcohol and lightly dip a cu tip in and look inside your player. You will see a small glass bubble inside the middle of the carriage that will be the optical laser reader. Gently swab off the optical lens a couple of times with each cu tip dipped in a small amount of alcohol. It would a good idea to also purchase a can of compressed air and blow your system out to make sure it is clean of dust and dirt. Make sure you blow the system out before cleaning the optical lens. Let dry for about 2 minutes before plugging back in and replacing the cover. Now try and play your dvds. You might also want to clean each dvd before placing them in your player as an added help. I hope this helps and let me know if you are still having problems because it could be a defective part and I will be able to let you know what it is with a few more questions and the answers you give.

If you do not mind please rate my help, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Invalid disk error

I had a problem with a Lite-On Lite-On that had been working fine then stopped reading any disc--sometimes it would go through the motions of recording if a disc was in and a timed recording was due to start. After recording it would not read the disc. A google search led me to find the a dirty laser would cause this. I removed the cover and with a clean lint free cloth I used rubbing alcohol to clean it and it has worked fine since. While I had the cover off I took the unit to my garage and used an air compressor to blow all the dust out of the unit and cleaned the laser again just in case. That was about 6 weeks ago and it works fine. My unit has a cooling fan that I think contributed to the dust problem.
