Your camera uses SD cards and these have a very small locking switch on the left side near the top (as you look at it). It very often gets switched to lock without the owner being aware of it. Just slide the the tiny switch up to the top of the slot and your problem should be fixed.
I do not understand what you mean by , "...tried moving slide from one side to the other".

When i try to take a picture or delete a picture..the bottom of screen say's "card locked! how do i fix this. canon power shop a1000is.

hey the solution to this would be to take out the sd card out of the camera(it will probably be right next to the battery) and on the memory card there will be a button with and arrow showing direction to lock the card.... simply just push the button to opposite side and plug the card back again.... it will start working and be unlocked :)

My Canon Power Shot A590s card is locked and I have absolutely no clue how to unlock it. Please help

Take out your SD card. SD cards have a small sliding switch on the side of the card. The switch moves up and down and is probably in the lock position. 5748d99.jpg

Unable to delete images from memory card of Canon power shot A1100IS camera each time I try it comes up busy and does not respond.

Is there a slide switch on the side of the card? Is it in the locked position? If so, move it.

Memery card locked moved tab on the side

If this is occurring with multiple cards, or is saying "card locked" even though the tiny slide switch is in the unlocked position, then see this post for another possible remedy.
