Question about Magic Chef Ovens

Open Question

I have a Chef dual fuel upright freestanding oven. The electric oven has stopped working halfway through cooking a cake. It gave a "click" and everything stopped - lights, heat, selectors. The gas hobs are still fully functional and I checked the power cables are intact. I have a feeling the short is in the actual knobs but don't know whether I should try removing the front panel to have a look. There was a burning smell in the kitchen as if something had burnt out.

SOURCE: Magic Chef Oven won't light

Your oven bake ignitor is becoming defective. Even though it is glowing, the resistance is not great enough to "pop" the gas valve open and is slowly seeping gas into the oven cavity. With a strong ignitor, the oven should light within 30-45 seconds. Because this is a gas oven, I DO NOT RECOMMEND FIXING IT YOURSELF. Call an experienced technician.

You most likely have a defective oven bake ignitor.  Call an experienced tecnician.

Did this with me twice now on self clean. It's the thermostat on the back of the oven. Set to trip when oven gets too hot which happens with self clean. Part is about $45 - $50 and pretty simple to install. Hardest part is pulling the oven out of the wall.

SOURCE: Diplomat Softline ADP0300 Gas-just not cooking ...anything!

Hi there..
I Just recently had the same problem, also with a diplomat gas oven..
The problem I found was down to a small resetable component under the main cover. ..
It took me ages to find the problem and I had taken the whole electical parts of the oven to bits before 'accidentaly' coming across this 'thermal switch' (located inside the main cover, at the top, behind the display module).. - to reset this there is a tiny red button between the connectors.. press this - and it should all be fine again... : One importnat note is that this may be tripping as a consequence of the fan not running or by my thinking not running on after the oven is switched off, leaving the casing to heat up and then trip this switch component.. - if this component is faulty it can be found in RS components or Farnell components.. look for Thermal swich manual reset part no: L100C 9082 470.

Frigidaire Gallery oven large element stopped working

Hello -

If you are referring to the bake element, but the broil element works then you would need to just replace the bake element. If both your bake and broil element does not work, then there might be a problem with the wiring communication. However, if the oven does not bake and/or broil but the cook top works, contact a professional to have the EOC (electronic oven control) diagnosed.

Oven stopped working halfway through cooking. grill still works but top oven also stopped working

Sounds like to overheat device(s) kicked in. Is the background cooling fan still operating? i.e. that is the fan that continues to run for about 10 mins once everything on the device is switched off.
As well as hearing it, you should be able to feel a gentle draft of air coming out of the gap between the top and bottom doors.

Oven - Failed baked goods, takes too long on other things

most ovens have what is called tempture sensor, its job is to read the tempture within your oven if this sensor is faulty then it sends the wrong signal to your display, you talk about a thermometer showing a different temp please do not put this thermometer in your oven some of these contain mercury and could explode in your oven.I would advise you to call a electrication and get him to test your tempture sensor.sorry i cant help you any better.adrian
