Kenmore 700 dryer with a three prong cord is being converted to four prong. Is there a drawing of what wires by color going to the proper screw location?

There's a ground strap wire (green/yellow) attached to the dryer cabinet and connected to the center terminal where the white neutral wire of the power cord is connected. Disconnect this ground strap wire and remove the 3-prong power cord from the terminal block taking note where the wires are connecedt to. Connect the 4-prong power cord in the same way same wire colors of the 3-prong cord are connected to the terminal block. Connect the ground strap wire to the remaining fourth wire (green/yellow). Just do the reverse when converting 4-prong to 3-prong. The link below might enlighten you further on this matter.

My dryer does not get hot anymore

The thermal cut-off located on the heater housing is likely blown. It blows if there's an issue with clogged ducts and/or faulty high-limit thermostat. These components including the cycling thermostat on the blower housing are wired in series with the heating element and power to the heating element is terminated if one of them, usually the thermal cut-off, cuts or blows open. Kenmore 90 series electric dryer qiuet pak 1 101649022200 the lights are on when you open the dryer but the dryer itself will not turn on or do anything!

There's thermal fuse on the blower that blows when the cycling thermostat malfunctions or the lint/vent duct are blocked. This thermal fuse is wired in series with the dryer motor and if it blows, power to the motor is terminated causing the dryer not to start and no dryer function works. Check to make sure that the lint filter is always clean and the vents are clear. Click on the link below for the detailed troubleshooting of the dryer, particularly the thermal fuse, when it doesn't start.

Kenmore dryer has no power. the electricity going to the dryer is fine. any advice?

check the cord on the back of the dryer itself as sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced. Maybe the door switch also. Good Luck Tim

Dryer will not restart

Sadly, the thermostats in your dryer control the heating circuit only. There is a thermal fuse that will not allow the dryer to start, but it's one time only and cooling down will have no effect.

The scenario you describe is the motor cutting out on it's internal overload. When it gets to the point where it cuts out on the overload mid cycle, it's unlikely cleaning lint will solve the problem. You might want a tech to come out and verify that the motor needs to be replaced.

Another possibility is o loose connection in the power source. This could be at the dryer terminal block, in the dryer cord receptacle, or at the circuit breaker.

Electric dryer internal short

Make sure that the dryer is disconnected from the wall outlet before doing any repairs on it. Electric dryer work on 240 volts AC and this could hurt or even kill you. loose connection on the terminal block will cause the wires to get hot. and melt the terminal block and wires and the pig tail wires. you will have to replace the terminal block and pig tail wires and make sure you use the correct bolts and make sure you tighen them. let me know if this helps.krazytech
