Question about Miele Dishwashers

2 Answers

I have a Miele G892 SC dishwasher. When I start the cycle, it drains (except for a bit of water left below the triple filter). After that, the intake valve opens and water enters. It then does nothing for a period of time until the "intake/drain" indicator light starts flashing. When I open the unit, I find about 1/2in of water in the tub (above the tripe filter). I have 1. cleaned the intake valve filter (no blockage found) 2. Inspected the drain line at the base of the unit as well as the inner tube in the dishwasher (no blockage). 3. Tried running the cycle with the drain line going to a bucket to determine if it is a blockage where the drain line meets the disposal line (still faults) 4. Tried resetting it - still faults at the same time of the cycle. 5. Cleaned the triple filter 6. Made sure nothing is blocking the drain pump shaft Nothing has worked. Is this a bad water level sensor? should the pump be running during the time water is flowing to the unit? Please help!! thanks

    Daniel,

    Thanks for the reply.

Regarding the air gap, I get the same response when I completely disconnect the drain hose from the air gap connection, and drain into a bucket, so the air gap should not be the problem.

Regarding the motor, the unit does drain almost completely at the start of the cycle, so the motor is able to turn.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks.

    Daniel,

Thanks. I can't seem to find the float switch in the tub for the level sensor? I find one float in the tub, but that is supposed to be the salt level indicator. Can you give me some more details on where is this float sensor / level sensor? Do I need to remove the back panel to get to the switch terminals?

    thanks,

    sanjeev

Rick thanks. I am just not sure where in the unit to find the float switch. I do not see anything in the tub. Also, I assume I need to remove the back panel to find the leads for the switch to confirm it is functional, correct?

The pump is running due to the float switch or the float itself either being stuck open or broken and showing a fault this is why you have water going in to a certain point but not the point required for washing the dishes and then due to the float switch not reaching the proper level and the water rising above the float and the switch not activating is why the drain pump is kicking on to get rid of the water in your unit check to assure the float switch or the float is not stuck and then test the float switch to make sure its working if you have any further questions message me back Thanks Rick

front toe kick the float switch would be in the area of the water inlet valve if you look up the switch would be close to the valve itself this is a video of how to test and replace the float switch the video is basic but gives the general idea http://www.youtube.com/user/ApplianceHel... if you have any questions message me back I await your reply Thanks Rick

p.s the switch may be in a different area then shown in the video but this is the general idea of how to repair the issue

Hi

Intake/Drain light flashing means an issue while draining. You would need to check for air gap on the dishwasher, it may be clogged. It prevents dishwasher from draining, sometimes the drain flow is restricted due to gunk. Cleaning or bypassing the air gap will resolve the issue. If this doesn't resolve the issue then it is due to seized (or stuck) drain pump. Disconnect the power to the dishwasher or turn off the breaker to the dishwasher. Tip machine on its back; remove screws that hold the bottom tray on. Remove the hoses to the main motor, remove electrical connections & remove motor (single screw holds motor, it is on the outside back of the machine). Try to rotate the motor (use WD40 is necessary). If you cannot rotate it, then motor will be required. If the error still appears then cancel the error message, turn the rotary selector switch to "Stop/End" or press the "Start/Stop" switch for approx. 5 secs. Switch the appliance off and then back on again. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Thanks for your reply.....The issue seems to be with the float switch assembly that is bad and should be replaced. Float assembly is found inside the dishwasher's tub, on the bottom. The water that fills your dishwasher lifts the float, and when it reaches a certain level, it acts as a trigger for the float switch. The float triggers the float switch to shut off, thereby shutting off the flow of water into the dishwasher. A defective switch may interfere with your dishwasher's filling and/or draining ability.Use your voltmeter to test the switch. Set the device to the ohms setting x 1. Take each probe and touch them to one switch terminal each. This should produce a reading of either zero or infinity. Continue to touch the probes to the terminals, and press down on the switch's button. The reading should change to the opposite extreme. If your switch fails either of these tests, you should replace it.

Red intake light comes on and dishwasher will not drain, model g 843 scvi

The manual is available here: http://www.miele.ca/miele/canada/OperatingInstructions/manuals.asp?ParFolder=Dishwashers&SubFolder=Previous%20models . Scroll down through the list to the G643 G843 Incognito. The maintenance items listed below are detailed on page 44 and beyond of the manual.

The Intake light is also the Drain error light. If the light is flashing, then turn off the dishwasher and clean the triple filter, the drain pump and the non return valve and make sure that there are no kinks in the drain hose.

Make sure the water is ccoming in at a pressure above 4.5 psi. Also make sure that the water valve is open and clean the water intake filter.

The final possibility is that the Waterproof system has tripped and you need a Miele technician to service the unit.

I hope this helps.

Miele Dishwasher G841 - Water not draining after wash cycle

If you suspect the dish washer, try discharging the drain in a bucket. After the drain cycle check the wash tub. If water is still left, you have to clean the drain filter attached to the bottom. Refer user guide.

The final drain end of the dish washer where you discharge, the fixing junction has to be cleaned, incase it is clogged.

Miele Touchtronic G892 SC Water leak at base of door

check the rubber seal around the door to see if its torn or smashed. if it is replace it, could someone have set somthing heavy on the door while it was open that would have stressed the hinges. it is most likely one of these problems take a nail file and slid it gently between the door and the body of the dishwasher if it slides in easy where it leaks you know the seal is bad and replace it.

Miele G892 SC dishwasher not heating/cycle won't stop

Miele have cold inlet only. Either element is open circuit, or the relay that switches the element has failed. My money would be on the element first, then the relay. The machine will sit in that mode forever as it is waiting for the temperature of the water to reach a certain temp before telling the electronic unit to move to the next part of the wash. If you need assistance in how to test & how to get to these parts just let me know. But you will need an ohm meter to test the element. Regards
