Question about Motorola T5710 (22 Channels) 2-Way Radio
1st: My batteries are good. Contact is good. One radio will come on sometime. Display looks good, and you can use the menu button. When you go to xmit, the display blinks and will not xmit. It will receive, but sounds scratchy. Sometime when you turn it on it takes a few seconds for the display to appear. Now it does not come on at all.
I know you say your batteries are good. However, the symptoms you are describing would indicate a bad battery. Just to be sure, you might swap the batteries between the units and see if the problem moves with the battery. If not, you are correct, the batteries are good.
The next issue would be an internal radio issue, such as the unit has gotten wet or moist, and corrosion is beginning to form on the board. OR it is possible you have a hairline crack in the component board and this is causing some of the traces to make a poor connection.
FYI: It is common with these smaller types of radios for people to put them in their back pocket and sit on them. This will many times cause hairline cracks in the component board, or will cause small components to pop off the board.

Tips for a great answer:
Aug 21, 2008 | Motorola TalkAbout T5530 2-Way Radio
To set the code for a channel:
1. Press Menu until the CODE number begins to flash.
2. Press the + or - to select the desired code.
3. Press the PTT to save the code.
Note: You can set a different code ofr each channel using this procedure.
Zero (0) equals OFF.
If you continue to have problems, set both radios back to a very basic setting with all special featured turned off and see if you can communicate. Then add the desired features back in one at a time until you have what you'd like on both radios.
