Question about Kenmore Washing Machines
First thing to do is remove the agitator and see if the splines (ribs) on the agitator or bushing are stripped. The ribs are only plastic and meant to shear under stress to protect the transmission.
Earlier washers have a nut or cap on top of the agitator (may be reverse threaded).
Newer units, the agitator just pulls off.
