If the computers lights are just yellow what does that mean?

Just Yellow when? Tell us what happens time you put the power cord in and press the power button? Does it try to boot? Do the lights blink? Hear any beeps? Hear any fans? Does anything ever appear on the screen?

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge. Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, Remove the Memory Cover on the bottom of the laptop and remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

C500 Laptop won't come on power button just flashes

Have you tried attaching an external monitor when the LCD screen is disconnected from the motherboard? this connector is located under the keyboard strip – a piece of plastic just above the keyboard.
If it works, this way, then the video cable isn’t seated properly in the connector on the back of the screen. Plugging the video cable back in should fix the problem.
I don’t know how comfortable you are with taking apart laptops but I think that this information could be useful for you.

Toshiba Satellite 1405 - Power problem

Hi Don

Although symptom is showing that AC Adaptor is not working as its not providing power to the unit. I will suggest you to perform some basic troubleshooting steps. Check if outlet is working if not check with known working outlet. If you have a multimeter you can the output of the AC adaptor.

Also you can perform full power cycle and component discharge. Take the battery out and disconnect the AC adaptor press the power button and hold about 7 seconds. After that put the AC adaptor in and test again.

If issue persist take to nearest Service center check with known working AC adaptor. After that I believe you will figure out the best solution.

Good Luck

Hardware issue

Hi Drew, Sorry it took so long to answer this but somehow it got by me unnoticed. The flashing power LED typically means a power related issue. One of the great things about Dell equipment is they supply lots of diagnostic help. If you don?t have the original diagnostic disk you can download the software from this link. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R107682&SystemID=PWE_PNT_P3C_2550&os=WNET&osl=en&deviceid=10658&devlib=0&typecnt=1&vercnt=3&formatcnt=1&libid=36&fileid=142340 This utility is usually pretty good at finding hardware issues and is the first place to start. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
