Question about Homelite Garden

2 Answers

I need a gearhead for a homelite z830sb string trimmer. the part # is A04836C. Homelite no longer makes or stocks it. Apparently they don't think their products should last or can last 14 years. Any suggestions on where to find this part?

I have seen exactly what you mean. The part is listed as obsolete and has been superceded by another part # UP06970 that is also out of stock NLA (no longer available). But somebody, somewhere on the net has one of these. These guys list it, but it is out of least it is not listed as no longer available. Your part is the gearhead at the top of this page. You can contact these guys for more information and when it might become available to you if they order you one. I know just how frustrating this is. Anyway, these guys list your part with the new part number.

Post back if they can't help you soon and I will keep looking with you!

There is an online vendor that sells the latest version(Homelite/Ryobi part # UPO6970A) for just under $50.00. Here is the link. I hope this helps and good luck.

Where and how do I get a new coil for the Homelite 25 cc engine ? has lots of replacement Homelite parts, but it's really going to depend on the model you have. You can go to Homelite's website at and look up the Homelite part # for the part and then use that at PartsBuggy's cross-referencing page to find out if they stock it or not.

I have a Homelite Z830SB Brushcutter. I use it with the blade attached rather than the line, for cutting. It starts fine, but it does not engage (i.e. the shaft does not there is no rotation in...

the inner shaft could have broken, which is the case a lot when using the blade vs the string remove the shaft from the motor, and spin the inner rod and see if the blade turns, if it does check the end of the rod and see if its damaged in anyway , if the blade doesn't spin, the shaft has broken and will need replacement

Homelite strin trimmer head wont rotate

The only way to access the bottom of the metal shaft is to break it. This is fused on at the factory. It sounds like your flexshaft has twisted in two. Remove the flex shaft from the engine end and see if it is in one whole piece or is damaged in someway. If it rotates at the top but doesn't rotate at the string head this is probably the problem. However, Homelite no longer offers just the flex shaft for purchase. You would probably have to purchase the shaft and the tube as a unit.
But if you are saying the spool and string is not turning at the bottom it could be that the cup which holds the string has worn and can not longer be turned by the shaft. Replace the cup that holds the string.
Another possibility is that the shaft have moved forward, away from the engine and just need to be jammed back in, and retightened (the handle grip and the boom clamp).

How to remove clutch on model z830sb

The clutch interior must be turned the same direction as the engine to loosen (reverse threads), tapping with a screwdriver and hammer usually does the trick. When you install the new clutch make sure you apply an anti seizing compound to the threads.
