Question about Emerson EWD2204 DVD Player/VCR

1 Answer

I'm trying to hook up my dvd player to my tv and dish network system. I had disconnected it a couple of months ago before having some renovations done in my house, and I can't get it back to how it was. Can you help me?

If you have HD TV it is best to hook up the DVD player separately.

The easiest way to connect this is to find the cable going from the receiver to the TV and disconnect it from the TV. Connect this cable to the back of the DVD player where it says "in" or "input".
Next take another cable and connect it from the DVD player output to the TV. Make sure your TV set is tuned to the correct channel and input and you're all set. If you need further assistance please reply here and I will see to it this gets resolved.

Thank you so much for your help. I actually had a technician come to the house on Monday to hook it up, and it's working now. He hooked the dvd player directly to the television, without any connection to the Dish HD receiver. The only problem now, and it's a minor one, is that when I'm watching a DVD, the little "screen saver" message saying that the receiver is turned off is very faintly visible on the screen. It's distracting, for sure, but it doesn't keep me from watching the movie. Would revising the setup as you described resolve that issue? Thanks again for your help.

This sounds possibly like a case of "burn in" on your screen. If you consult the owners manual or check in your menu options there should be a panel protection setting try selecting that it should give you a blank white screen for about a half an hour. If that doesn't help let me know and I will try to contact you!

If you are using a powerstrip may not be supplying enough power to run the LG HDTV and your HD receiver. If you are using a powerstrip make sure the receiver is plugged directly into the wall. Otherwise this may be a grounding issue please reply if this doesn't work and we can look into some other possibilities.

How do i install a dvd player with dish network

Hello, if your receiver and tv are HD you want this hooked up separately to get the best picture. If you just want it hooked up to standard definition then take the cable going from the receiver to the tv and connect it from your receiver to your DVD then connect one from your DVD to your tv.

If you have HD TV it is best to hook up the DVD player separately.

The easiest way to connect your DVD player with your TV, is to find the cable going from the receiver to the TV and disconnect it from the TV.
Connect this cable to the back of the DVD player where it says "in" or "input".
Next take another cable and connect it from the DVD player output to the TV. Once you've done this make sure your TV set is tuned to the proper input or source. Your DVD's should play when the receiver is off, however, you'll probably need your DVD player on to get the DISH signal.

Tv has sound but no picture.

If it works on DVD but not on your Dish, and when you connected it to another house it had the same problem then it sounds like your input connection is bad on the TV. That is if I am understanding this right. From what I am reading your Dish network is not showing a picture but the audio is working fine. The DVD player works fine on the TV though. Then you took the TV and hooked it to another dish system and it was the same problem. That sounds to me like you TV is having a problem, either that or the cables for your Dish network are bad. Try switching to a different input, like the one the DVD player is on and seeing if it works there. If not, then the cables are bad and you just need to replace the cables. If it does work though where the DVD was working before then your TV input is bad on that port you were hooked to before.

Let me know if you have any other questions and if this was helpful. If you need some more clarification let me know, I hope this is helpful. Good luck and have a good weekend. Get it fixed before the Super Bowl.

Connecting DVD to cable only TV and Modulator box and Dish Networ

Without knowing the actual ports on each of these devices, all I can suggest is that have you tried connecting your DVD to the Dish box (thru VCR scart connection at the back of the Dish box) and then the Dish box into your modulator (and then modulator into your tv.

I have a similar system set up but we have a Sky Digital box here, no idea if its the same as a Dish box but im assuming so.
