I need help taking apart my panasonic toughbook cf-48. I need to remove the cd drive. I think that will be the final step. I'm having trouble figuring out how to take it out.

Thanks for the help! I managed to get it apart and the screws were visible when you take the hard drive out. Every single piece is out of that computer now... My dad wanted to replace the power jack. So I hope I remember how to put it back together!

    Thank you again!

CD drives usually slide out after removing one or two screws. Usually the screws are under the keyboard or come up from the bottom of the unit. I would suspect that you will see it under the keyboard.

The keyboard is usually held in place by a few screws at its top. You will most likely have to pry off the plastic button cover that spans the top of the keyboard to get to them. Some keyboard are also fastened through the bottom of the unit by a few screws.

I suggest to people that they take a lot of pictures as they take a notebook apart, that way they have a guide when putting it back together.

Panasonic cf-27 toughbook cant find usb cd/floppy

sounds like who ever rebuilt the unit didn't load all of the mother board resourses.

I would call them to make it right...if not...go to the panasonic web site for all of the driver for that unit and just load them.

My CF-29 has battery issues

I'm just thinking that this might be caused by your power supply unit that came with the laptop although I'm not totally sure about this. When you are at home what I would recommend you do is remove the battery and just use the laptop whilst it's connected to the power supply as this preserves the life of the battery. Obviously charge the battery up and when it's full use the battery alone without the power supply unit. Carry out this test if you haven't done so already and connect the power supply but remove the battery and see if you face any problems. If it is the power supply then you may need to replace that. Good luck. Andrew

How do I replace the backlight on the CF-29

It sounds like your lcd needs a new back light however, this can be a simple and cheap fix. If you would like me to provide in detail what you need to do in order to resolve this matter and where to order part(s) and provide step by step help then you will be to fix it with in one or two hours, or faster. Your Bezel needs to be removed with lcd and then replace bad light, you may have to bulbs but you can replace just the one that has gone bad.

Mouse cursor jumping uncontrollably all over screen.

Your touch pad drivers need to be installed. Power off the laptop. Install an external mouse, power back on and install drivers. When finished, power down, remove the external mouse and reboot.
