As far as I've seen, the data line light on the modem should indicate whether the data signal is coming through from AT&T or not, so I'd suspect that there is a problem with the signal from AT&T rather than between your modem and computer.
It is possible that the data signal lapsed for a while and your modem thinks it's still not there without actually looking. You can try unplugging your modem from it's power for about a minute (at least 30 seconds) and then replugging it in afterwards. That sometimes allows it to see the new data signal if it lapsed previously for any reason. After all lights light up (especially the data one), then try to go online again. If that doesn't work, try restarting the computer and if that doesn't work I'd try to talk to someone higher up in the AT&T support and explain about the data signal not showing on the modem so you can get them to fix it.

A flashing ADSL light on the router means its not getting constant broadband signals. Make sure it is connected to the adsl filter without any extensions and the filter should be directly connect to the main phone socket and not to an extension socket. Also check if the phone socket has 1 or more than 1 ports on it. If it has two port its most likely a SSFP socket which does not require a filter as it is inbuit.If all the connections are fine try changing da filter.

Are you able to access internet when you are connected with a cable netween your laptop/desktop and router please check if yes then with the same connection go to http://192.168.1.1 default username admin and password "admin" and then check in the wireless tab is there any security on the wireless the same code needs to be entered on the laptop also in wirless network connections
Or the issue can be conenctivity between your service provider and router you may need to do some settings as per your service provider on the router for that again you need to open the 192.168.. page
