Question about Char-Broil Grilling

1 Answer

The burners will not light. It appears that they are no getting any propane from the tank. Unfortunately, I have missed the manuel and this is a brand new grill. First time trying to use it and have been successful. We used the old propane tank from an other grill, could this be the problem. Purchased this grill from Lowes late September 2010. Could you please advise. Type of charbroil - Infrared Commercial Series #463247310

The problem is more than likely the OPD Valve in the gas tank. To solve this problem, turn the Tank Valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Turn the tank valve ON VERY,VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow). Once it's fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to it's highest setting. Does the flame height look correct? If so, light the remaining burners following the same procedure. Now, to all the flame heights look correct? If so, you solved the problem. Just remember to always turn the tank valve ON very, very slowly. If it didn't solve the problem, make sure you have adequate gas in "old propane tank from the other grill."

Seems like burners flames dont get big

Paula, you're propane tank may be almost empty or the OPD Valve in the tank has locked up your grill regulator. To test this theory, turn the propane tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose. Turn the tank valve ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY (slow motion, slow). Once it's completely open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to high. Does the flame height appear to be normal? If so, light the remaining burner(s) the same way. If all the flame heights are now normal, you solved the problem Just remember to alway trun the tank valve ON very very slowly. If that didn't solve the problem, you need to replace the grills regulator/hose assembly. You can purchase it at any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories. Just take your old one wih you for comparison purposes.

Hope this helped you to get back up and grilling!

Grill will not light, I tried lighting it with manuel lighter, it lights and it will not stay lighted.

If you grill is fueled by and LP grill tank, the tank may be near empty and doesn't have enough fuel to maintain combustion. However, if it lights, but the flames are low, it may be a case of the OPD tank valve on the propane tank has locked up your regulator. In which case, turn the tank OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose. Now, turn the tank valve On VERY, VERY SLOWLY (slow motion, slow). Once the valve is completely open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to the highest setting. If the flame appears to now be normal, light the remaining burners following the same procedure. If all burners have returned to normal height, you solved the problem. Always remember to turn the tank valve on VERY, VERY SLOWLY.

If none of the above solved your problem, you may need to replace the regulator/hose assembly. You can purchase one at any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories. Take you old one with you for comparison purposes.

Hope this helped you and Happy Grilling!!

Grill is fairly new, can't get it to ignite fully. seems like the propane flow is constricted.

Simple solution. Turn off the tank valve, disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (I mean slow motion, slow) until it's fully open. Light the burner that's farthest away from the tank first. Turn the flame up to high after it's lit. Now proceed to the other burners following the same lighting procedure. If all the flames appear as they should, you've solved the problem. If not, repeat the full procedure again.
But, I think the first time will do it.

In the future, remember to turn the tank valve on VERY, VERY SLOWLY, so that the burst of gas won't lockup the grill's regulator again.

Happy Grilling!! Please let me know if this solved your problem.

Model 8500L: The gas instant flowing to the burner.

Turn the LP Gas tank valve off. Disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes. Reattach the hose to the tank and turn the tank valve on VERY, VERY SLOWLY (I'm talking slow motion, now). Once the tank valve is completely open, light the burner furthest away from the propane tank and turn it to the highest setting. Continue to light any remaining burners the same way.

If it appears you're still not getting gas to the burners, repeat the above procedure again. If that doesn't solve the problem , you'll need to replace the tank hose and regulator assembly. It can be purchased from any home center. like Lowe's or Home Depot. Just be sure to take your old one with you, to get the proper size.

Hope this gets you up and grilling again.

I have a Jenn-Air grill with three burners. When I light the first two burners, they light fine, when I light the third burner, the flames on all three burners get real weak and the grill will not go...

Screwy new tank has safety feature: so...
remove the tank and clear the the lines.then reinstall the tank and crack open the vave just a hair. Retry. Seen it.

Grill no longer producing good heat

read manual...possibly triggered propane safety bypass. Close tank, Turn OFF all burners, disconnect tank. Open one burner for 1 minute and turn off again. Reconnect tank. NOW OPEN tank slowly, all the way. Turn on first burner and ignite with starter or light through port hole manually. Hopefully works better.

Gas grille won't light

I have a baby Weber grille. It can take a propane canister and/or use a regular size propane tank with the proper hose. In either case it doesn't appear that propane is getting through to the burner and as a result it won't light.
