Question about Briggs & Stratton Garden

Open Question

I have a Troybilt pressure washer (model 020240) with a 6.75 HP BS engine (6BSXS.1901VH). The starter cord snapped and will not recoil. I took a look and the recoil spring is bent up. Is there a way to replace the recoil starter assembly on this engine? If not, what are my options? Thanks.

SOURCE: Motor seems to be locked up!!!!!!!!

It may be your engine, but it may also be the water pressure. Try this: Hold the trigger down while pulling the recoil starter. This acts as an unloader for the pressure washer, and may allow the engine to turn over. There is also an oil level in the pump as well as the engine. Check both levels.
Just a thought, but I've been there. Best regards, W/D

SOURCE: replace pump on a darcher k2400 hh pressure washer

There is a bolt item 8 below on the very end of the drive shaft that has to be removed before you can remove the pump assembly.

See page 16 item 8 of this Manual: (<-click and download

Then you should be able to remove the pump.

Thanks for using FixYa.

My recoil starter won't pull out it is stuck

Just take the cover bolts for the pull cord off. Then see if it works. There are usually two cogs that engage into the shaft of the engine. These cogs push outward when you pull the cord, engaging the shaft of the engine.

Pull cord stuck open

Most likely the recoil spring broke. The engine cover has to be removed to repair this. If you are not mechanically inclined, it would be best to take it to a local small engine repair shop. Proper replacement involves knowing how many pre-wind rotations is required to properly recoil the rope. Some things are just better left to the pros.

Stanley instruction manual

There is a spring in there that makes it recoil. It has probably broken. Depending on who made the engine you can get a replacement for the whole assembly. A small engine shop should be able to replace it for a not a lot of money.

I have a Weed Eater Electrolux Model 961340001 02 push mower with a Briggs and Stratton Q4.75 engine. I'm have trouble finding the model # on it.

Look on the engine blower cover should be on the side. It will say model and type and code. Go to sears direct and put the model and code in and should bring you up to the owners manual.

HOW MUCH OIL AND WHAT TYPE FOR BRIGGS STRATTON 6BSXS.BT ON TROYBILT GENERATOR 30245 NO OPERATORS MAULA lIVE IN cULLMAN NO POWER SINCE D

imogenerhode-

This engine takes a four cycle engine oil. SAE 30 weight should work fine. Any oil made for lawnmowers would do.

You may find the troybilt manual for this unit at: Link
The briggs and stratton manual can be found at their website at: Link. To look find the correct manual you will need to find the model and revision number from the inner side of frame, next to the engine. The model number will be a six digit number and the revision number should be two digits.

If you have found this helpful please take a moment to give me four thumbs up.

My starter string broke on my troybilt lawn trimmer, how do i fix it

Disassembly of the covers and controls to that point will be needed. It takes a little bit of work, then you have to preload the spring tension on the recoil unit BEFORE you install new rope. A good little bit of labor involved....somewhat mechanically inlined?

Air cleaner is melted and casing

You will need to have your complete ENGINE model number

Model GX270-_ _ and
^
(Located on the starter recoil face)

Engine serial number: __ __ __ __ -__ __ __ __ __ __ __
^
(Located on the lower crankcase RH side as your looking at the starter recoil under the starter pad near the oil drain plug to get the right parts.

Break out the "Yellow Pages" and look up small engine "parts" Have the model and serial number in hand from above when you call or visit the shop.
