Sounds like System Ram......... I would not recommend wrapping it up in a blanket anymore, Heat is a motherboards enemy!!! Try Removing your Ram and re seating it.... If this does not work you may be experiencing MINI dump issues, if this is so
Looks like you may have a rootkit infection.
Did you recently install MS update KB977165?
If yes then try the following.
1. Boot from your Windows XP CD or DVD and start the recovery console
Once you are in the Repair Screen.
2. Type this: CHDIR $NtUninstallKB977165$\spuninst
3. Type this: BATCH spuninst.txt
4. When complete, type this: exit
