Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I purchased a new screen for my laptop with the exact part number as the OEM screen after the original was broken. I hooked it up and when I power up the laptop all I get is a white lit up screen, no image. I hook up an external monitor and get a perfect image. I have tried to toggle to the internal screen with no success. I have taken the laptop back apart and checked the connection, all good. Any suggestions on what it could be.

The laptop screen had gotten broken by something being pressed too hard on it. The replacement screen is the exact model as the OEM screen and I have rechecked the connections and comfirmed they are all good. I have replaced many laptop screens but never have had this issue. I get a perfect image using an external monitor. I have tried to toggle to the internal monitor but no luck.

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. May i know the reason why did you change the screen? Is it the same issue that you have a white screen or no picture? Please provide the information needed to be able to fix the issue.

Thanks

How old is my Dell Latitude D531 computer? 76487-OEM-0011903-00102?

You can find out exactly when it was purchased, by going to :

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/details?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

and typing in the "tag" number. Tag number is found on the bottom of the laptop.

Once you type the tag #, it will tell you when it was purchased and what the original configuration was.

Click on this link or copy and paste the complete link into your browser.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

My hp laptop is broken, but when i purchase a 14.1 wxga lg philips screen , it won work properly. but when i attach broken one its work fine why?

Probably incompatible screen
What you should do when buying a new screen is to take the old one out, take a photo of the label on the back or make a note of all the numbers on the labels and give that to the people supplying the new screen.
That way you get the correct one. Especially if you are buying a compatible screen and not and original equipment manufactures screen.

Where can I get a new screen for my broken

Take the lcd out, read the part numbers from the back of the screen and then do an advance search on eBay.

That's the cheapest way to get the exact screen you need.

make sure all of the part numbers match up!

No Backlight on an ACER 4620

I don't have an exact answer, but some thoughts & ideas.

It really does sound like an inverter. Is the screen the EXACT model as the other one you replaced, and is the inverter the EXACT one. One that is similar may not work.

The faint image is either a bad bulb or inverter. If that screen has never powered up and lit up, you might have a screen with a bad bulb.

I would leave the blame to the motherboard last. Your symptoms seem more like the inverter or bulb in my experiences.

In need of replacement screen not sure if getting correct one

You'll have to take the screen out of it's housing (involves taking the screen entirely off the laptop, and then removing the bezel around the glassy area by removing the screws under the little circles of plastic) and remove it from the hinges and then finally, you'll be able to see a sticker on the back that has the actual model number of the screen. be sure that it's an exact match to the exact model number. Even if the connector fits, the controller might be different and it won't work at all. Compare pictures, compare model numbers, try to see if they'll guarantee it working on your exact model of laptop (unlikely, but it's worth trying).

See this document by Dell about how to take the screen out. Be sure to follow the instructions carefully.

Laptop Screen is broken

Laptop screens are usually very pricey to fix. Chances ar eyou will need a new one , and the price of a new one + labor for someone to install it usually isn't worth it. For the same price you can purchase a brand new one!
