Question about Wella Color Touch 1.9% Emulsion Lotion/developer

Open Question

I use Wella Color touch number 6 mixed with a smidge of 5. I usually use 1.9% developer. My hair is in good condition but i have some colour build up on the end. Am I using the correct developer? what difference will it make if I use the 4% Also, my friend is about to start using it. She has damaged, over processed blonde hair. she will be using the same shade as me but we're not sure what vol to mix it with. Please help x x Thanks

SOURCE: I have natural lt brown

Gray hair is resistant to accept color.....You might try to find one of 2 products: " Zotos Porosity Equalizer" from Sally's or any beauty supply store. Also, Clairol has a new formulation called "Gray Solution", where there is a cream added to gray hair prior to adding color. This is for next time you plan to color.
In the meantime, you may want to purchase Roux Fanci-Full Color Styling Mousse in either #19 or #18 to tone down the red tones from your local beauty supply or online.Good Luck

Its a hair matter, I forgot to use the serum in the new colour, does it make a difference :(, please help

Serum in my experiences with hair color is either a shiner or conditioner so it won't hurt to use it the next time you do your hair. As long as you mixed the tall bottle and the tube which is usually about 1-2 ounces you should be safe. Does your hair look good? That's a good sign you've done everything correctly. To save money go to a search site and question: How can I save money coloring my hair at home by going to a beauty supply store? No questions if you do it that way.

Tips to keep your hair healthy and glossy

To keep your hair healthy you should do the following things regularly.

1. Keep protein in your diet almost every day throughout the year. Fish, meat, egg, cheese, etc. is good source of protein. Note, there are certain medical conditions when should not avoid protein

2. You should take foods which supply plenty of vitamin A, B, and D. Fruits are good source of vitamins in general. Mango, papaya, and any yellow color fruit have plenty of Vitamins A.

3. To increase glossy look of hair you should mix 1 teaspoon of gelatin in 1 glass of tomato or carrot juice and drink that every day.

4. Mix Indian gooseberry (Amla) dust, Henna dust, Babul (gum) tree skin dust, Holy Basil (Arjun) tree skin dust in equal proportion. Make powder once again in mixture grinder. Take 10 grams of this mixture for one person. Mix this dust with 6 cups of water. Boil this water till it reduces down to 1 cup. Keep this as it is for one day. Next day do shampoo. Then let the hair become dry. Wear rubber gloves in both hands. Now apply the water to your hair. Do this exercise once in a week. You will get a lovely hair.

5. Castor oil is has tremendous value for hair. Massage castor oil everyday in the roots of hair. In this way the hair roots will be firm. You will see the volume is increasing day by day. Continue this for few weeks. After that reduce the frequency to twice a week.

How to rectify my hair colour used xxl absolute platinum roots are a lovely colour but rest of hair is orange suggestions in what i can do to rectify the problem

Where you tinting / coloring over a existing color?
It is real important that you navigate / calculate what your natural color level and what natural reflect your hair is. (Not artificially from a previous tint) Because tint is not total matt coverage like paint. Hair color wont tint over tint accurately. This is how many horrific bad colors are born.
If your eyes are blue or hazel & you have a fairer complexion that color is more feasible. If your eyes are brown and your hair is medium to coarser texture and very dark its a lot more complicated because you could throw scaling down (backwards) from lots of red to brassy copper to gold.
The actual formula needed is calculated on how many shade levels of lift counteracted by what reflect your lightened hair will throw. Not necessarily by what color the tint box says. The color shade on the box is a idealistic situation. If your having trouble following me or these complexities cut about 50 strands of hair at the nape (back of neck underneath your hair and put scotch tape around it. Then mix a minute amount of color and developer and you will understand me. This way you can at worse only screw up of 50 strands of hair (instead of everything attached to your head). Bad hair color jobs are expensive to fix & as I can see what we are working with a guess is a hazard. Don't take on almost mission impossible blindly.

Why is wella elan plus conditioning lotion not available.......what other products are available compatible to wella's quality & preformance

I have used Wella Elan extra hold setting lotion for many years. Now I can not find it any where. There is nothing else that I have tried that is close to being as good as Wella Elan EXCEPT Beautiful Body instant hair fortifier by Naturelle. I have been a cosmetologist for 34 years and I am so disappointed that it has been discontinued.
Beautiful Body instant hair fortifier by Naturelle can be purchased from Sally's Beauty Supply if you can not find it anywhere else. It cost around $7 or $8 for a 16 oz. bottle.

I'm using Goldwell 12BG which says 2+1 on the box. Is the formula 2 oz. of developer/peroxide to1 oz. of toner or is it 2 oz. of toner to 1 oz. of developer/peroxide and should I use 20% or 30%...

Ratio is always developer to color, so a 2:1 is 2 parts developer to 1 part color. Example mixture is 40 ml developer to 20 ml color.

30 vol gives you better control and less damage to your hair. If you have VERY dark hair (level 5/4 or below), you need to pre-lift and then apply the color. It sounds like you're not a trained stylist, so I don't recommend 40 vol as it lifts too fast for most people to get an even application, especially if you're applying it to your own head (since it takes longer to do generally speaking).

You can work in sections to preserve color and get a more even application. Simply mix enough color for one section at at time, apply and process, then rinse ONLY that section with water to stop the chemical process. Repeat on all other sections. Good luck!
