No boot weird lights

Hi I have a L 1100 that will not bot or make any attempt to. Here is the weird part if I tap around to the right of the start button with my finger an amber light will flicker. If I hit both sides of the palm rest on the bottom 2 green lights flash. In both instances there is no attempt to start.
Any email advice is appreciated and welcome. I alway have problems trying to get back to thewe forums. Thank you

May be more than a loose motherboard dc jack connection, probably a more serious problem with the motherboard itself. Perhaps an issue with memory, try only one memory module at a time, trying one slot at a time.

This sounds as though a connection has come loose on the motherboard. Open the machine and check all connections.

Can't boot from usb drive or usb cdrom Tendai

Try to get into the BIOS - when computer first starts a message bottom left will show.... press F1 to enter Set up it migght show esc F1 or F2 or something like that . Whatever it is - Tap that key AS SOON AS YOU SEE THE MESSAGE. - you may have to have one or two attempts you may be lucky and get it first time.
In BIOS go to the BOOT screen - (usually right arrow key to get there) Usually the top item is "Boot order" highlight it and tap the Enter key
Hilight the CDROM line and follow help file on the right ( maybe F5/F6 to move up/down) move cd to top line... this is the 'boot from' line
Note - to boot from USB stick - it MUST be in place BEFORE you go into BIOS - hilight the USB Stick and move that up to the top.
Tap the F10 key then Enter to save and exit BIOS.
Tap the enter key when "hit any key to boot from CD" appears
Done.
Cheers.

Hi Dell D800 won't start up as bar won't go right to the end on first start up screen.

This is usually a software problem. Drivers are loading during the time that the Windows start up bar is on screen. Try booting the machine and tapping the F8 key. Select 'Safe Mode'. If the system boots up into safe mode, then you have a bad driver. Reboot and tap the F8 key. This time select 'Last known good configuration' See if it boots all the way. If it does, then you should be good to go. If Safe Mode fails to boot, then you need to reload windows.

IBM Thinkpad T21 will not boot, worked fine 30 minutes ago...

| | Installing this wireless adapter couldn't have fried the motherboard, right? ||I would not have thought so .. the software may have caused an issue --- as the PC boots tap F8 you should get a menu - choose "last known good configuration" ---- if that does not work, reboot and again tap F8 as it boots and this time choose safemode - then see if you can restore start>programs>accessories>system tools>system restore> choose a date to before the data you installed the wireless adapter software

George,
Please press F8 at bot up and then select Safe Mode to boot into. Once booted, Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Restore. Here select an earlier date to restore to The available dates would be in bold numerals. You laptop will reboot as a process of restore. Then you can boot in normal mode.

Dell Latitiude 1100 Will not boot has poweron issue

I also have a dell inspiron 1100. It seems that it has overheated, and your motherboard or CPU has fried, or died from the heat. What you say sounds like a motherboard failure

There is currently an ongoing lawsuit. Also, take my advice, and instead of trying to fix it, you're better of getting a new computer, as the dell is getting old anways. I spent some extra cash and got myself a vaio.

Toshiba setellite black out

Sounds like the back light on the screen isn't working properly which will need to be replaced if this is the case. Check for a very dark image on the screen when it is booting up in a well lit room, if you can see the computer start up then it is the back light.
