Dell Latitiude 1100 Will not boot has poweron issue

I have a Dell L 1100 that will not power on.Power supply is good and battery condition is unknown. Here is the weird part if I tap the area around the start button an amber light flickers on briefly. If I thump the bottom sides of the palm rest 2 green lights flicker on. In both cases there is no attempt to boot. Do I have a haunted laptop or is this a known issue?
Email help is welcome and appreciated !!

seems to be a common problem with the 1100. Mousepad which has a magnetic reed switch keeps it from starting.Found the solution on a different forum. Thanks for trying.

I also have a dell inspiron 1100. It seems that it has overheated, and your motherboard or CPU has fried, or died from the heat. What you say sounds like a motherboard failure

There is currently an ongoing lawsuit. Also, take my advice, and instead of trying to fix it, you're better of getting a new computer, as the dell is getting old anways. I spent some extra cash and got myself a vaio.

My dell inspiron M5030 turns on showing the dell logo and then it turns off

I would remove the power supply, battery, hard drive and RAM. Power up the laptop with just the power adapter and enter bios. If it goes to bios OK, select the default setting. Press F10 and let it try to re boot.
Remove the power supply and fit the RAM. Insert the power supply and try to boot. You should have error message on screen. Remove the power and insert the hard drive. Connect the power supply and attempt to boot.
That sequence should show the issue at the point that there is no display that is where the issue is.

Battery is plugged in the laptp Dell inspiron but not charging

First, I would check to see if your Battery is one that was RECALLED by following this link. Next, I recommend that you rule out the possibility that the Power Supply may be the issue/ Or the Battery may need to be replaced. Do the following:
1) Remove the Battery Pack and boot the system by using only the Power Supply. If your system runs normally without any issues, it is probably the battery that needs to be replaced.

Dell latitude d500 wont charge.

If the original batteryand the system works on AC power, then replace the battery.

If the battery has been replaced, then it could be a motherboard charger failure

Dell Inspiron 1100 won't power up with battery & power pack both conected

A fast check to determine whether you have a problem with the power adapter, power cord or the laptop's battery is to turn off the laptop, remove the battery, connect the power adapter, turn on the laptop & see if it works.
If the laptop works directly from the power adapter with the battery removed, then the power adapter is good. In this case we can suspect that the battery is defective.
