Question about Vacuums

Open Question

DC15 brush bar first intermittent, now won't run at all at any angle. Purchased Torx 15, removed 2 plastic covers on right (looking from the front) side. Blue/yellow wire seemed stuck where it entered the black rubber grommet. Tried giving it a gentle tug . . . nothing. Firm tug pulled out 2 stripped ends. So I'm hoping that replacing those wires is the way to go, per several suggestions here. Problem is how to thread new wires in. Teachmhs provided advice about using an ice pick . . . Before I do that some additional detail, with pictures, would sure help.

Check the above link to see if it helps. It shows you how to break down the DC15 to check for issues. Also try inspecting the circuit board for loose wires. There have been several people who reported loose or burnt wires to be the culprit for the brush bar not working. The DC15 does not use a belt, but a motor that is control by the circuit board. And I really believe that in your instance, the problem is a loose wire between the circuit board and the brush motor.

SOURCE: I am trying to disassemble

There's a tab at the back of the rail that needs to be released. Turn the vacuum on it's side, slip the tip of a standard screwdrive into the space between the rail and the back of the vacuum, and tap lightly with a hammer. Tap toward the front of the vacuum a few times until the rail is far enough forward to be slid out fairly easily. As a side note, the rubber covers do not need to be removed to do this.

I have a Dyson DC 15 Vac. The brush does not spin consistently while using. It goes on and off during use. I have checked for loose wires, etc. Have found nothing. Any suggestions?

This can happen if two tiny wires that are connected to the circuit board and lead to the beater bar are broken. These wires brake where they go through a black rubber grommet. You need a torx screwdriver (No: 15) to remove two plastic covers to access these wires . When looking from the front of the vacuum, the circuit board is located under the gray covers on the right side of the vacuum. There is one big cover with a black rubber gasket and other small gray cover is on the rotating ball area.
See photos at here.

When I vacuum the carpet it won't engage into the brush mode, or it does intermittenly. It stays in the brushless mode for the most part

Beater brushes don't work, what to do? They only work when the canister is in about an 85 degree up position.
