Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

I have a Whirlpool which just recently started leaking from the door occasionally and it is most unpredictable. It eventually stops, but before it does it will deposit about a pint of water. I have replaced the float and the float switch, thinking those were the cheapest parts and perhaps the switch was faulty and letting too much water in. That did not work. When this happens I checked the exhaust and hot steam is coming out. Could it be the water inlet valve? If the seal was bad I am assuming at this point it would always leak. Or is it some timer control that is confused?

This was my suspicion as well, however, that part is kind of expensive at $50. So I just want to confirm with you that you are sure it is nothing else and what other kind of issue(s) might it be in the order or most likely to least likely, just so I can work it around in my own gray matter for a while before I purchase that part. Thanks.

Ok, I ordered it and will let you know if this fixed the issue.

You are right and I am sure that it is the water inlet valve as the float switch assembly is already replaced :)

Water occasional show up on floor

Hi

Some leaking around-under-from the door on dishwashers can be traced back to a split in the spray arm. If the lower spray arm develops a split in it, the spray arm can turn too fast, and shoot water directly at things that it is not suppose to spray water at....sprays water at the door vents or edges and can create water leaks.

Please do rate the solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

I recently started getting this message as well. I found out that I accidentally switched the hot and cold water lines into the washer. After switching so hot goes to hot and cold goes to cold the 'hc' message has stopped.

My new whirlpool duet front load washer shuts off immediatly as soon as it starts and the door stays in locked mode. you have to jiggle the door and keep pushing the start botton and eventually it will try...

This advice is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet model front loading washers. If you experience a problem where the door becomes jammed and will not unlock or open, here's an easy way to gain access inside your washer WITHOUT calling the repairman.

1. Remove the lower panel under the door by loosening the three screws under the bottom edge on the front of the washer. HINT: If you prop up the front feet of the washer with some small blocks of wood, this will make access to the screws much easier.
2. With the screws removed, the lower panel should drop down then come off. If the panel sticks, a light tap on either side will knock it loose.
3. Reach your hand up inside the washer behind the front casing on the right-hand side. This is where the door latch assembly is located.
4. At the bottom of the door latch assembly is a small pull tab. This is the manual release for the door. Pull the tab straight down and the door will come open.

Sometimes these doors will not unlock for whatever reason. If there are no error codes being generated, this could have just been a momentary glitch. If you see "Fdl" "DLE" or "Fdu" error codes, these are usually indications of a failed door latch assembly and will require replacement.

Power windows not working

Remove the door panel on a non working window and at the window motor hook a multimeter to each of the 2 wires then try it at the master switch. IT should be 12V. You can also try hooking it to a battery one way is up the other is down. Usually if it is an intermittent power window it is caused by broken wires inside the drivers door flexible rubber between door and interior.
