Sounds like it must be some hardware issue. Take it in for repair.

After booting up all I get is a black screen

Try this:

If you're booting up the device and it goes thru the Post test and then goes to a black screen this usually means your OS has crashed.
You will need your Operating system or Recovery Disk.
I hope you've backed up your data and files.

Try this:

Windows 7

When I boot up my desktop, it will show the welcome screen then my screen will go black with a large white cursor and nothing else. From there it doesn't not progress, it just remains on that screen...

Try to re install your operating system you can't troubleshoot it if your video card is working a problem like that can be troubleshoot if you can't see any video on the screen you have said that it is working at the start up to the welcome screen so it means there's nothing wrong with your video card and monitor.

I can't start windows normally, when turn on the power it shows startup repair recommended. if choose that nothing open, just black screen. how to fix this problem.

Hello,

Normally computers do have the repair option, but usually it does not work or if you have formatted your PC and changed the OS.

The best way to get it repaired is to boot from your Windows CD. Once booted from the CD, you will have the choice to repair Windows. Just select this option and it will correct the problem.

Once done, your computer will restart and you should not get this message anymore.

Hope this helps!!

reboot the system, wait for the VAIO logo to appear, and then start pressing F8(keys depends on the model ) . The Advanced Boot Options screen will appear shortly. Use the arrow keys to highlight the “Repair Your Computer” option and press Enter.
