Hi,
Only you can hear the record player through the aux of your amp if the record player comes with built in phono preamp. If not you need a phono preamp between the record player and amp or an amp which have a phono input. Phono preamp is available in the open market.
ok

How do I connect my Yamaha RX-V733 to cd player?

Assuming the CD player has a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, get a 3.5mm to RCA audio connector. Put the 3.5mm plug into the headphone jack at the back of your CD player (or audio out if that's what it's labeled) and attach the white end of the RCA jack to the white connector in the Phono at the back of your Yamaha RX-V33 and the red end to the red RCA connector just below it in the same Phono area.

Switch the Yamaha to "Phono" and start the CD player. You should hear things now.

How do i hook up an ipod to the rx v596

If you get a dock and a 3.5mm plug to two RCA phono plugs lead, it will then connect to any spare aux imput socket. At the same time the dock will keep the battery in the i-pod charged. Or you can just plug the same lead into the headphone output of the i-pod, but the battery will run down.

I have not been able to record LP's. The instructions mention hooking up the cables to the receiver outputs down to the TDK deck. Which outputs? Tape, Aux,? I tried splitting off of my phono outputs with...

your phono outputs are a whole diff ball of wax than aux or tape etc, whole diff signal, all that they should run to is phono in on the receiver. You are using the cd recorder as a tape deck more or less, so use tape out to line in on the tdk, and tape in from tdk output. so..when spinning record, you have receiver set on phono, and the tdk should also be receiving that signal, to playback you would hit tape monitor button on the receiver and hear what the tdk has done, or is doing.

Wwhat is the sampling rate for rx v 396 yamaha amplifier

There is no sampling rate associated with this receiver. Perhaps you are asking the wrong question. What exactly are you trying to know? Sampling rates are usually associated with CD or DVD players.

Can a turntable be hooked up to this receiver?

The Aux function is not meant for that purpose. The turntables/Record Players being way too old,now a days the amplifiers do not come with PHONO function that was specially used for playing Records/For turntables. Check if u have a phono function in your amplifier and if not then buy another amplifier with Phono function coz you need a ground wire [that comes out from the turn table] also to be attached to the amplifier and then only you can get a proper sound.

Connecting a Technics SL-BD20D turntable to a Yamaha RX-V463 Rece

After further research, I learned that I need to plug the turntable into a preamp before plugging it into my newer receiver. As with cassettes, record players are fading away. I ordered a preamp, but won't be able to experience success until it arrives.

Yamaha Natural Sound Amp and Tape Player

All of this applies to nearly any analog consumer audio gear...

If you have any Tape Deck and an Equalizer and only the one Tape Monitor loop you should place the EQ into that Tape Monitor loop, then place the Tape Deck onto one of the probable two Tape Monitors on the EQ as it sounds like you had here...

"When I had it set up with the graphic equaliser, pressing tape monitor on the amp and on the equaliser gave me play backfrom the tape player."
That setup will allow you to apply EQ to any analog source and the tape deck in record or playback mode.

However, if you want to remove the EQ and use the Tape Deck directly on the Tape Monitor just attach the deck's Playback cables to Tape Mon In (Play) and the deck's Record cables to the Tape Mon Out (Rec). Flip the Tape Mon control to hear the tape deck or monitor it while recording.

----

NEVER plug anything but a turntable into the Phono. It has a preamp that expects a ver ysmall signal from the cartridge AND it also has a severe RIAA Equalization curve which would result in grossly exaggerated frequency extremes if you managedto get a non-LP source into it. Likewise, turntables without internal electronics mut always use the Phono section of a receiver, preamp or integrated amp to get the boost and EQ they need.
