1 Answer

Have an Atwood LP water heater in myacht houseboat. Water Heater lights fine and runs ok for a short period of time, then shuts off before water gets hot. Can try to immediately light it back but nothing happens. Can wait awhile, it will light back up, run for a short period of time, then shuts down again before water gets hot. Thanks

Hi,

You have a bad thermostat/ECO.... the ECO cuts out and will keep you from relighting till it cools.

Here is a site that has parts for your heater, but you will need to know the exact model number to get the right part.

Not hard to install.... just make sure to check out what wires go where BEFORE unhooking them.

Make sure propane is on and getting to your stove burners ok, first, then try switching it back on. If it fails to ignite, shut switch off and try a couple of times, if still no ignition, get back to me.

Have an G6A-8E Atwood water heater. It Starts fine and shuts down after a couple of seconds. I can see the diode in the control board continue to spark after ignition I replaced the igniter.

If it has the little thermal cut-off in power wire to thermostat (has a little plastic jacket over it) try removing it, and connect female spade from power wire, directly to male spade on thermostat, and see what happens. Also, make sure electrode is positioned in flame good for flame sensing properly.

I have a RV Atwood water heater and it ignites and starts ok but shortly thereafter it shuts off. I wait a minute or two and it restarts but shuts off again. Could it be the circuit board, or the sensor in...

You may have a control board issue, there is no sensor that is IN the water tank your thermostat controller are exterior to the tank under the black foam looking piece which I think is where your trouble lies

Atwood water heater runs for two minutes and shuts down, replace thermostat and EEC clean thermocoupler still no joy, short out thermostat lead it ran until the EEC open. any ideas???

If you have the little thermo cut off in the circuit to thermostat, (little resistor inside small plastic tube) try removing it from the circuit. Just pull the wires at each end and attach directly to thermostat where it was before. If it works now, you found the problem, if not, get back to me.
