Question about Philips Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hi, Thank you for email . I have a small Philips 250gb external hard drive model No. sde3275xc/97. It came into contact with some water 2 days ago and since then my laptop does not recognise it. It is not listed in Device manager so is not installed you just plug it into usb port. When it first happened I was getting a message to download some software from manufacturer but I'm not sure where to go (ie log into)

It's possible that a harddrive coming into contact with water would no longer be usable. You can have a professional recover the data, if the data on the device is important. Please check the info below:

You can also try placing the harddrive in a bowl of uncooked rice overnight. The uncooked rice will absorb the moisture from the device. Although I cannot guarantee this fix as its possible that water may have damaged the harddrive.

Describe your Western Digital 250GB MyBook External USB 2.0 250 GB Hard Drive Problem Do you have a picture of the voltage and amperage adapter for the Western Digital 250GB MyBook External HD ?

I don't have a photo of the AC adapter, but if you look on it the Voltage and Amperage specifications are;

Input: 100-240VAC / 50~60Hz
Output: 12VDC / 2A

This means the Input power can be from 100 volts to 240 Volts AC, and at 50 to 60 Hertz

The Output power is 12 Volts DC at no more than 2 Amp's. (Amperes)

Asian Power Devices Inc. has a model DA-24B12 that fits these specs.
Also a Wattac AC adapter model number - BAO362Zl-8-A01 will work.

Otherwise just use a 12 Volt, 2 Amp power pack, with a positive on center contact, and a 2mm pin hole

REQUIRE WINDOWS 7 DRIVER FOR IOMEGA SILVER SERIES 250GB EXTERNAL HARD DISC DRIVE. THANK YOU

The external hard-drive is "plug-and-play", and Windows XP/Vista/7 all support "plug-and-play".
Thus, it should automatically be detected by Windows.

So, what's your "real" problem? Symptoms? Error-messages? What happens? What does not happen?

Clicking sound on Firewire 250GB

okay, I had this issue with my acomdata 500GB. today I decided to open up the drive to see if I could remove it and restore the data. after unscrewing all six screws (4 on the front and 2 small ones on the side, you'll need two different phillips, a large one and small one), I looked inside. first I registered the driver inside (it's a Western Digital) in case I needed to get it replaced. sure enough, it was still under warantee, even though the enclosure/driver kit is not (acomdata warantee runs out after a year for this model). but I noticed a slippage on the mangnetic copper film strip right above the USB port entry. it was slightly falling off the edge of the port. so I just fixed it, not thinking much of it, it just didn't "look" right. then I had a thought to plug it back in. driver now works again! I am about to recover my files and then test unplugging it to see if this repair "sticks".

Make freeagent deskot 250GB master hard drive

1) I greatly suggest against making ANY external HD your primary disk.

2) Not many computers support this.

3) The most likely method would involve reisntalling your OS (Windows/OS X) onto the drive.

4) I just noticed this thread is from three months ago... :P
