Heated oxygen sensors (HO2S), Electr. Vacuum Regulator (EVR)

My 1998 lincoln continental airconditioner keeps blowing the fuse. replace the fuse it will run while for a short time then blow the fuse. They have replaced the compressor and switch and it still blows...

Ok If it keeps bloowing the fuse it means that its to much resistance in the system. I would reccomend you to take a look at you're blower motor. Even if it work properly it my be durty or to old so it requires more power to spin and then its over heating the wires and the fuse automatically blows up.
Please don't forget to rate me..thanks!

Blows main 3-15al fuse after 240v brown, out all secondry fuses ok can find no shorts in primary or rectifyer stage

Use a series 100 watt lamp in the hot side of the power to allow testing wothout popping the fuse... the lamp will limit the current.

If there was a utility power "incident", report that to your power company as a possible damage claim before doing anything.

The unit won't power on at all.

You can try replacing it with any 10 amp fuse just to see what happens. If a new fuse keeps blowing out then you have a shorted power amplifier inside(they consist of transistor or a single chip). These device look normal most of the time short out with any visual indication. If you desolder the power amp chips(they are mounted against an aluminum heat sink to dissipate heat) and the fuse quit blowing then it is the problem.

Fuse keeps blowing

NEVER EVER replace a fuse and think that va fuse will blow all by itself. The fuses are there to protect the set from catching on fire incase theres a short inside the set. Now in some cases an intermittant short can work after you replace the fuse but if its burnt black or brownish, theres a short inside the set in one of the circuits. always use a 100 watt light bulb across a blown fuse if your not sure if there is a short. if there is, the light will absorb the short and glow bright. if there is no short the bulb will glow bright , then go down very dim. you could have a main power supply problem, such as shorted bridge rectifyers, shorted main b+ capacitor, Hot could be shorted, or the Vertical or audio output IC could be shorted

NO POWER, Yes blown fuse.

Was this the 220 ohm in the power supply??? and if the 5 amp blew right away then it probably took out the bridge rectifyer with the power surge that comes alog with hurricane damage to the power lines as I used to live in florida and repaired lots of sets damaged from storms!! After you check the bridge rectifyers I would start looking to find any other shorts. First measure across the ac line with the fuse replaced but not plugedf in . If its shorted check what I mentioned before if its good after you replace the shorted parts you maybe in luck. need more assistance go to sams photo facts download a schematic and we will trouble shoot this together if you post it here so i can look at it. good luck
