Hi

If the drain pump is clean and the water inlet valve is fine then the issue is with the control board that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Hi. Pressing and holding the cancel button may reset the unit at this time,as well as, pulling the ac plug out of the wall outlet for five minutes. With that said, I will provide the proper reset sequence below. 1. Open the door of the unit slightly. 2. Within three seconds, press the following sequence in this order-high temp scrub, energy saver dry, high temp scrub, energy saver dry. 3. After the sequence, close the unit door and latch it. 4. After the door is closed, press the cancel button. This will reset the main control, unless there is major damage to the circuitry of the control board.

Cancel Light Flashing on Kitchen Aid Dishwasher

I found this post elsewhere. It seems to have worked for me: Our KitchenAid KUDP series dishwasher went into a mode where it would not start and would only respond to the cancel/drain button. The clean light would flash 7 times in a row, stop, and then repeat. I read that the 7 flashes indicates an error code and that the dishwasher has detected a problem in the heater element circuit. I tried to reset the error mode by turning off power for 15 minutes, however, that did not work.
We called for a repair. The service person found that the dishwasher was completely fine except that it had gone into an error mode. The technician reset the error mode and charge us $115.00.

The reset sequence used was reported to be the following:
1) Crack the door open.
2) Within 3 seconds press the following sequence - Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry, Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry
3) Close and latch the door
4) Press the cancel button (the circle with the triangle in it)

We were told the dishwasher expects to see the dish water temperature rise in a certain way. If the water does not heat in this way, the dishwasher becomes confused and thinks the heater element has failed. In deed, this happened just following and extended power failure and our hot water tank was cool. I am curious if this code will work for anybody else with the same problem and save a service call and 115 bucks. Overall, this seems to be a serious logic flaw in the design.

Tip

How to reset a Whirpool dishwasher.

You have to press a series of button in sequence, the sequence is completed pressing the Hi-Temp wash, air dry, Hi-temp wash and air dry again in succession.

On some model it can be Sani Rinse wash, air dry, Sani Rinse and air dry again in succession.

If that does not work, then try tripping the circuit breaker for two minutes, emptying water that can be eventually inside the tub, connecting back, and doing the reset sequence again.

My "clean" light flashes even

Hi
If clean light is blinking 7 times then it may be an issue with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump. If yes then please reset the power to the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same error. If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try pressing this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry. Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and then you press the Cancel/Drain button and allow it to completely drain and reset.
If this doesn't work then it's an issue with the wash pump not pumping the water past the heater efficiently or due to lack of water to heat. Please make sure that heater is not open circuited and is heating the water efficiently. You'll have to check the heater using a multimeter; the meter should read between 3000 to 3300 ohms (Use multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then make sure water pressure is optimum and fill valve is working fine. Hope this helps... Please post back for further assistance.

The clean light keeps blinking and the dishwasher will not start. I pushed the cancel button and it runs for about 30 seconds and just shuts off. Nothing happens when you push the start button.

2 lights flashing on panel have tried to reset but still flashing

The blinking "clean light" is a common problem. So first clean it. The problem is usually attributed to water supply temperatures being too low when filling. Apparently, there are some issues with the temperature sensing circuits in some dishwashers that causes an error code to be generated if a certain water temperature is not achieved in a specified time interval (this time may differ between models). There is a reset sequence that you can try to clear the fault. Push the NORMAL WASH then HEATED DRY buttons in that sequence two to three times. The unit will enter diagnostics mode, but can be stopped by pressing the CANCEL button. This will clear any existing faults and should return the dishwasher to normal operation.
If this reset does not work then you will need a megger to test the machine. If you haven't got one then you will need to remove the lid and the right hand side panel. From there you will see the wash motor and the heater element. remove the wiring from the heater then try the dishwasher if it doesn't trip then the heater will be at fault if still tripping then disconnect the motor and try that. and so on just disconnect parts to see if it stops tripping

Check the user manual. There should be a provision for master reset.
You may have to operate the buttons in sequence to rest.

Check the door close switch! Make sure the switch is not intermittently
contacting.

If nothing works, take the help of the service provider as there are
several versions of software. After buying the control board you should
not land in problem of mismatch.
