    Hi
the way you asking isn't clear to any camera tech. it is too general. if you think little more carefully you can get what your camera really has problem. on your case, it just doesn't take a picture. first, you have to check shutter release button which has two switch -- meter and focus switch and completion switch. In order to check both switch you set to self timer mode and push release button. If you see light blinking then your two switch is good. second, you have to watch and try to hear any small noise that focus gear and shutter actuate sound in lens unit assemble-- you have to near your ear next to the camera while the self timer finish. If you don't hear anything, then it has problem in control circuitry fail between release control pcb (printed circuit board) and lens unit ---mostly main pcb defective. however, you hear any noise, then mostly like lens unit defective. Personally, I suspect more on lens unit since everything works you said. ( you still have to try listen the noise come from lens unit) ... Just in case I give you ebay part listing for you, if you are willing to repair yourself.http://cgi.ebay.com/Camera-LENS-ZOOM-UNI...

you have a choice repairing yourself or bring it to your local repair shop. They would charge you around $35 to 115 if you bring the part... Good luck and kindly regard!

Need a manual for a Vivitar Vivicam 8600s

Generally speaking, zooming reduces clarity. This is already a low megapixel camera at 8.1 MP, with a 6X optical zoom. This means that, for anything up to 6 times the resolution, it'll really zoom in by adjusting lenses.

Everything after that (8.5X) will be digital, which will result in noisy (pixelated) pictures.

However, make sure to take a few zoomed pictures and view them on a PC or Mac with an actual monitor. It's possible that the zoomed pictures only look bad on the tiny screen of the camera itself.

Try adjusting the zoom lens back into place. It may require a little force to re-seat the lens. If this doesn't work, then your camera needs professional service or replacement.

Canon sd450 - spilled a little lemonade on the camera

maybe the lemonade was sticky and the shutter can't open? otherwise the circuitry could have been fried if you turned it on before it dried inside.

Fuji 4700 zoom

there is some chance that it's not getting power for the shutter release. Either becuase of some internal error on the switch, the circuit isn't closed, or that the batteries aren't performing. Unless you're tired of this camera, you could try with new, maybe borrowed, NiMH bats. Good luck

Camera has locked down!!!

resetting may help solving the problem. in order to reset your Olympus Digital Camera, please follow the instructions provided below: 1. Remove all cards, cables, etc. 2. Remove the lens cap or slide open the lens cover and turn the camera "ON" in any of the record modes. Then remove the batteries. 3. let the camera sit for approx. 5 to 10 minutes 4. Re-insert the card and a fresh set of batteries or an AC adapter 5. Test the camera I hope this will solve your problem.
