How do I Reinstall the internernal soundcard on my Dell Vistro 200 without a installation disk

Control panel - device manager - check the audio section and see if there is a red x anywhere. This should indicate if there is a problem. If you're certain that the driver showing here is wrong, you should be able to google the driver you need and replace the one in use.

How do I diagnose and fix my laptop's sound problem? Should I just throw it out the window?

which operating system

You receive an error that states: There might be a problem with your audio device

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it

click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll to sound video and game controllers you might see a yellow question exclamation mark? ! or a red X Right click to

reinstall drivers

click start control panel sounds and audio volume advanced speakers make sure you have selected the

(appropriate speakers) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have selected the correct speaker settings there

click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it

if his does not fix the problem

click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker

volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar for any

further volume control settings you will need to right click on the speaker volume icon system select adjust volume

click start control panel sounds and audio volume advanced speakers select the appropriate speakers

from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand system

speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check

the speaker plug/outlets is usually at the back of the computer or if its a laptop on the side

you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make

sure the connection is good with no dust as dust causes static electricity

clean your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is

no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit

dust causes static to build up in a computer

hope this helps

Have only realtec audia manager but can find my normal volume botton anymore on my home pc

Hi Tania,

This problem is a 'bug' in Windows XP operating system.

Follow these steps to restore your volume button:

  • Click on 'start' & select 'Control panel' from the menu.
  • Look for the icon named 'sound' in your control panel & click on this icon to open sound properties.
  • Look for the check box with the words: "Show volume control in task bar"
  • Remove the check from the check box & click on the "apply" button at the bottom right of the properties window.
  • Now click on the check box once more to add the check once again.
  • Apply the change by clicking "Ok" at the bottom of the properties window.
Your volume control should now be visible once again in your task bar.

Don't hesitate to respond should you have any further queries.

Best wishes,
Graemevm

Go here http://www.fmworld.net/globalpc/download/ and pick what region you live in then choose the model of laptop you have. Then look for the driver for the sound card for xp. You can look in device manager to see which sound chip you have on the motherboard. You will need to get the right driver for xp in order for it to work properly. Uninstall the driver you have now that is causing the bluescreen. You can disable the sound card and let it detect it when it reboots - after you've gotten the right sound driver for xp to install. Then install the new driver and it should work.

Hi whitco0313,

A corrupted or missing audio driver can cause this problem. You can try to do a System restore back to the earliest date that it worked fine. If this doesn't help, you need to check out Dell website and download the audio driver compatible for your laptop model and operating system version.

I hope this helps, please inform me if this resolves your problem or not to check for other resolution that we could try. Thank you.
