First try the combo keys FN+F5 (switch between monitors) to ensure that you have not switched monitors.

If its not that it sounds like damaged monitor. you need to contact your local Toshiba support for a service if you are in luck and you still have warranty.

Toshiba Satellite A505 - Most of the time when I turn it on the screen is grey, with no text.

This sounds like a bad display on the laptop. Hook up an external monitor to the vga port on the laptop. You may need to toggle the display to output to the external monitor. This is generally accomplished by pressing the "FN" key + one of the F# keys. Look for an icon that resembles a monitor or it may say LCD. If the graphics display correctly on the external monitor, then you will need to replace the computer screen.

My Insignia Monitor doesn't work with my laptop, I've tried everything, from pc settings to cables, etc, i only receive a NO SIGNAL ad

Usually you have to toggle the display output on the laptop. The FN key + one of the F# keys with a monitor icon on it. Toggle it until it outputs to the monitor. Your getting "no signal" because no signal is being sent to the monitor or you have the monitor on the wrong input if it has multiple inputs.

Laptop turns on but screen dose not

First, connect an external monitor, turn on your laptop, then pres fn+f5 or f7 button to switch signal to external monitor.
If it's not working, then your motherboard (if your video card is integrated), or your video card should be replaced.

If external monitor is working, than you have problem with connections from motherboard to display, or display itself.
Broken video cable (or cable has come loose from the connector), broken lid switch, display backlight or inverter.

Hope this will help you...

I have a dataprojector, no signal

Then 'No signal' or 'unsupported signal' messages are usually because your display is set too high. To see if this is your issue, hoop it back up too your computer & set the computer to the basic VGA resolution. Assuming you are using windows, right click a blank area on the desktop, click 'properties' on the dropdown menu, click settings. Write down the numbers in the 'screen resolution' and 'color quality' boxes, then drag the 'screen resolution' all the way down to then 'less' side. Then change the 'color quality' to the lowest setting. Click apply, then answer yes (the display will look UGLY - don't worry!!) Now connect your computer back to your projector. If it works, then the resolution you use on your desktop monitor is not supported on your projector. Experiment with different resolutions to see which one looks best on your projector.

Note for Laptop users-- By default the VGA connector on your laptop is off. To turn it on, look for a blue symbol on one of your function (F1, F2, F3...) keys. It looks like an old TV with a line on both sides 'O' (F4 on HP) Press & hold the blue <fn> button (on the lower left of the keyboard, usually to the left of control <crtl>) and tap the bleu button you just found. Let go & give you

Toshiba satellite a215s7422 screen blackout problem, however, computer powers up and fan is running. external monitor will start in safe mode. sometimes i see the word signal on external monitor. help

Sounds like your refresh rate is incorrect

Boot into safe mode. Go to Start > Control Panel > Under Appearance and Personalization , select Adjust screen resolution ,
Selct your laptops display , set the resolution to 1024x768 , click on advanced settings then click the monitor tab at the top.
In the box below , select Use hardware default setting .

Hit ok.

If that doesnt fix it something is wrong with the drivers.

Start in safe mode with networking and get the drivers from here and install them.
