Try using a mousepad.
Shiny or glass surfaces can make a mouse go crazy :)

run it in battery to see if fixes cursor problem
also try a different mouse see if that makes the cursor move correctly
this way you see if its the mouse or power supply
might also a touch pad problem anything that controls the cursor

Mouse pointer jumps when moving it on screen.

If you are not using a mouse pad, try that. Using the mouse on reflective or glass surfaces. Try another mouse to see if it has the same issues. Check your mouse settings in control panel to make sure everything seems ok. Update mouse drivers. Finally, you can try to uninstall / reinstall the mouse.

My acer aspire has a roaming curser

sounds like you need to go to your control panel and go to mouse and go to pointer options and check pointer precision, uncheck snap to or uncheck display pointer trails. Your problem will be in mouse and what you have checked or not checked.

I must have hit a button and now the cursor is showing up on the big screen off the projector but I only want to see it on my laptop while doing my presentation.

Hi renee_pott, "You can choose the "Mouse Options" in the Control Panel.
First, click on the -> Start button -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Mouse ->
Mouse Properties -> Pointer Options.
Try one 'or' more options:
* Snap To, place a (Check in the box) !
* Hide pointer while typing !
* Show location of pointer when I press the {CTRL key} !
  • Usually the "Mouse" pointer by { Default }, is displayed during a slide presentation, and when the mouse is moved.
  • " Try pressing the {Ctrl + H keys to "Hide" the mouse pointer}."
  • Left-clicking on the "Mouse" button, will advance [forward] the slide show.
  • Pressing Ctrl + A keys, will restore the "Mouse" pointer.
!"Take a moment to rate the help."

You may be a victim of spyware/maleware infections. You will need to have your system cleaned. This should help resolve your issue.

I would recommend trying CCleaner first to see if this helps you. Please keep in mind this will not rid your system of everything just keep you a float and offer you a fighting chance.

Please keep me posted and updated on your issue. I am here for you and will see your issues out till resolved.

Have a great and wonderful day :)

Thank You

Laptop pointer floats across screan out of control

Is this a cXXX series Dell laptop? If so, this is a common problem with the touchpad and integrated wrist rest and bezel. You can disable the touchpad within the synaptics control panel if you use it. If you just use the windows driver, you may not be able to disable this. I will sometimes just disable both the touchpad and touchpoint and go with an external USB just so it does not wander.

Compaq armada m700 has a irratic mouse

go into your control panel and look in the mouse or keyboard Icon, Open it and look at your pointer properties. Set all to Default and see if that gets the mouse back and working right, If that still don't work try an external mouse for a desktop and see if it still acts erratic, If the other mouse don't work right there may be a problem with the hardware that operates the mouse actions. Let me Know if that gets you going in the right direction, Ok Thanks
