The media player is running but there is no sound comming out of the speakers, the speakers are on and connected, the volume is up and and not on mute. im using VIA AC'97 Audio Drivers and they are working fine with no conflicts.

Then go to control panel,system ,hardware ,device manager option There if u find any question mark or exclamation mark in yellow Color that means sound drivers are not installed properly please reinstall sound drivers properly
If no question mark or exclamation mark then check the cable connections of the speaker to the machine
In control panel , select sound audio devices open it there u have volume,sounds,audio,voice,hardware options
1)See whether it is mute 2)In audio option select default audio device and recording device should be same

click start control panel sounds and audio then select audio make sure the default player is the media you want to use as your default sounds also click start control panel sounds and audio
devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it hope this helps

if above connection are Ok then Try to play Other Music files in other Music Player like WinAmp, Cyberlink etc... If sound is comming then Install newer version of Windows media Player. other wise there is
