How to adjust door on white knight tumble dryer

Micro switch may need adjustment as when pressure applied to door the dryer operates. It may be the operating arm (if there is one) needs to be bent out slightly. I switch has a button operator then maybe an adjustment of switch position will fix. If not try gluing a small piece of plastic to the door where the operator pin is and this may work.

My door for a hotpoint ctd40 tumble drier wont stay closed. The spring latch seems ok but not holding dooe closed. Any ideas since it dont say anything in my manual about it and its 2 yrs old. cheers andy

Hi andy.

the fault is likely to be in the roller catch mechanism. Hotpoint have modified these. Part Number is C00257618.

It includes both door latch and catch.
If you have problems obtaining one please email me on: aardvark.repairs@btinternet.com or call me on 01733 307019

A tumble dryer that isn't heating up at all needs checking with a continuity test meter. The most common cause is a heating element failure, or t.o.c's going open circuit. It depends on which make and model of tumble dryer you have as to how easy it is to get to the relevant parts. Some tumble dryers have heating elements that are easily accessible by removing the back panel, and can be tested for continuity or checked for obvious breakage. Others though have their heating elements inside, which aren't accessible without stripping the dryer down. Tumble dryer heating elements are always protected by thermal fuses which are usually simple devices with 2 wires connected. They can be tested for continuity with a test meter

If power is getting to the tumble dryer and the socket is definitely OK, then the most common problem with tumble dryers not working is when the door micro switch fails, or the catch on the door that operates the switch either breaks or no longer activates the door switch. Check for broken door catches. There is usually a plastic peg on the door that pushes through a hole in the tumble dryer's casing where the door catch is. Closing the door should operate a simple micro switch. If the plastic peg is broken or bent it might not operate the switch properly

OR The start capacitor may have failed and i would not suggest you deal with that as they give out a nasty electrical charge, also check and clean all filters and check your user manual for further advice as your machine should still be under warranty, call the numbers listed in your manual. good luck

Hotpoint CTD00 Door Catch Replacement

If yuo are referring to the catch on the door, then undo all the scews holding the 2 halves of the door together, and prize apart, fit new door catch.
If you mean the door lock, then you will have to remove the top cover and right hand side panel to access the door lock.
Hope this helps.
Plz rate this solution.
Thanks.
