Since there was a recall for the coils contact the manufacturer and speak with them, as they should send/pay for a repairer to fix the problem. Hope this helped Tim

First of all I will advise you to go through the warranty card and see what are the items covered in it and for how long. These days he normal condition is 5 yrs warranty period for the sealed unit (compressor) and for other electrical parts it is generally one year but varies from brand to brand. Your air conditioner is 4 yrs old and it is the electrical part so I don't think you are covered. If you are convinced that the part was bad when installed you have to prove it to them by showing proof that air conditioner never functioned at all. If it did function hen your claim that coil was bad does not carry any weight. Therefore under the circumstance I will advise you to get the coil changed and for the labor charges you can negotiate with the local dealers unless you are very positive that he machine is covered under warranty period.

they had a recall on the coils and we wernt notified so guess what they should have to fix it and i not worry about it so this is how you would treat you customer

  • Adarsh Saroj May 23, 2011

Good to know that the company is going to fix the coil as the default lies with them. Get after them.
Your complain never gave an impression that there was recalling of coil by the company.
    All the luck.

How do i repair my dometic air con unit on caravan

When you say safety switch do you mean fuse or breaker? If your breaker is popping(110 volt) then if probably is your compressor overloading the system.i would do as advised before and remove shroud(cover on roof) and clean coils or fins with some otc coil cleaner. Ive been in the buisness eight years and only one time have i change a compressor. Most people get a new ac. Sorry for the bad news

Clean the cpn14xc9

I think you are asking how to clean the coils on this unit. I would not advise taking it apart unless you really know what you are doing. If the coils are dirty just buy a good can of coil cleaner spray. Let sit for a while and brush the coils with a soft bristle brush. Tooth brush works good. Don't be forceful and bend the fins, it will restrict the air flow and reduce the efficiency of the unit. After you clean it with the spray and brush spray with warm water to remove the remaining coil cleaner from the coils. You may need to repeat this process more than once. Good luck, hope I helped you.

I have tried over a month to get someone to my home to fix my window unit. Bought Aug 11, 2010. Nobody will call me back. It was cooling when we turned it off this past winter and when we turned it on...

One thing you will find is most service companies dont work on window units anymore because there is no money to be made in it. These units are very disposable most repairs will exceed the cost of replacement most companies charge $85 to show up and time and material after that. Most people dont want to pay that much money for their window unit. Best advise contact the 1800 # on your kenmore paper work they might be able to help. Sorry for the bad news but most repair service call usually cost betwwen $180 - $250 window units arent much more.

Inside unit has leak. would it be best to replace complete unit or just the leaking coil. .

If it is a very small leak there are products made that can be put in the system through the suction sideYou will probably have to go to a hvac supply outlet to find them and if it is more than a tiny leak they won't work.
I would replace the entire unit as you will spend close to the same amount to cover all the extra labor to replace just the coil.Good luck and thank you.

John. Heidel@MSSB.com I have 2 carrier units both installed in 2006 and still under warranty, they are a 38brc030 and 38brc042 the evaporator coil in both units have to be replaced and the compressor coil...

Hi,
The best thing to do is to call Carriers customer service line or their tech. support number... often times the customer talking to the co. directly will get better results then the dealer talking to them...
The dealer does need to recover thier costs also... they do not make that much money on the initial installation...
It is worth a phone call or two for you to call the factory and tell them how you are going to tell all of your friends NEVER to buy any carrier products because they do not stannd behind them!!!

I bought an ruud a/c about 6-7 yrs ago many problems i also have a 10 year warranty that covers all and the business went out of business and the a/c is failing and i dont know how to get the a/c fixed -...

Get the model and serial number on the outdoor unit, try to get ahold of
Ruud, tell them you are having warranty issues and have them set you
up with a Ruud dealer in your area. This will not cover labor cost and may cost more than a new unit. However try to get what you can out of
Ruud 1st.

How much should I expect to pay to replace a leaking coil model number is CD5AXW030017?

Well first off - 99% of coils (evap/condenser) can be 'repaired.'

In which case - you're probably looking at a repair bill of between $100 -$200 depending on factors such as type of unit, i.e. window unit or central unit, easiness of repairing the leak, whether or not your refrigerant can be saved i.e. by pumping the unit down before repairing it - and average AC - labor rates in your area.

If you do require a 'coil change-out' - then the same factors apply - although I'd rather buy a 'new' window unit than pay for a coil to be replaced - because the cost will be close to the cost of a new AC.

If a central unit - you're looking at around $500-$700 to replace one of the coils.

good luck!

Evaporator coil needs to be replace again. Installed w new manufactured home; 09/2005. Replaced 05/30/08. Needs to be replaced again 09/17/09. All due to leaks. Freon was added. Currently has small leak;...

the manufacture is only required to supply the part free of charge thru its warranty period. the installing company probably would only give a 1year labor warranty and honor the pparts thru the manufacture for 5 years but unless you paid additinal for an extended labor warranty i dont think you are going to have much luck. Make sure you change your air filters every 30 days a dirty filter is one of the biggest causes of evap coils prematurely leaking. Sorry wish i could be more help.

No cold air coming out of air conditioner, Danby DPAC120061

Most likely 1 of 2 problems. A themostat problem isn't calling for cold air but most likely you are low on refrigerant. I don't know when you bought the unit but they offer a 24 month warranty on parts and labor. They've also discontinued the unit so I'd call for service if you're still covered right away.
