Question about Altronix SAV4D 4 Output CCTV Power Supply - 12VDC @ 6 amp, PTC outputs, encl. 8.5"H x 7.5"W x 3.75"D, 115/230VAC input.

Open Question

We have an Altronix SAV4D CCTV Power Supply that has red lights on where the camera wires are connected. There is also a low frequency buzzing noise coming from the unit. As well as lines across the top of the video. Are these issues indicative of a short in the wiring?

four power wires, used mainly in CCTV installations. The cable may power distant cameras (each two wires can be connected in parallel), or be used for cameras equipped with audio module (one pair can power the camera, second - transmit audio).

I know the rating is under but most CCTV does not pull the full power.

The only method to confirm the CCTV is to connect you DDM in series in AMP scale and see what it use.

It seems that the power adapter in for for you country. It may be a import. Normally adapters can handle 50/60Hz but not good adapters or false adapters or adapters made for certain region are unable to handle both frequencies. This is normally the cause of the stripes you are seeing.

When the door is closed it makes a buzzing noise, the micro still works and the noise goes away when turned on and used

> the noise goes away when turned on and used
Is it possible that the other noise produced when using the oven are only covering up the buzz?
I think your microwave has two power supplies; one that supplies the low voltages for the display and control, the other for the magnetron. The first supply may be a standard line frequency unit using an iron-core transformer and if these are cheaply made, the laminations can vibrate and cause a 'buzz.' Better transformers are 'potted' so that the laminations are glued together with epoxy and can't vibrate. On later units, the magnetron voltage is produced by a 'switched mode' power supply that uses solid ferrite instead of iron and never vibrate.
If it was my unit, I would take it far enough apart to run a couple of beads of epoxy glue across the laminated transformer to kill the resonance.
