    dear,

the easiest way to check all remote buttons is here

just open the camera of ur mobile phone or any other digital display camera.

place your sensor (IRLED) of remote infront of the camera so that u can see the sensor from ur camera.

just press each button one by one and u will see light emitting from that sensor in your camera.

if all button emitt light then it is confirmed that remote is ok, the problem is in tv reciever (Photodiode or phototransistor).

but see the light intensity. is it glowing high or low.

if low then u have to change the battery.

    regards,

  • SALMAN NASEER Aug 16, 2008

    dear,

did u find any faulty or blackish component inside..

especially you have to check the capacitor, main filteration capacitor that is placed near the fuse ..

moreover, u have to check if there is sound coming from flyback.

    regards,

  • SALMAN NASEER Aug 16, 2008

opening and checking keenly the tvs has a risky job. if u have done it before then u should check it . if not then its very risky to get involve deeply in that. its a work of perfect/experienced technician.

keep these things in mind dear.

    regards,

Hi Gerry-6465,
If you are non-tech person and don't know how to fix TV, it would be nice to call a repairman or take TV to local repair shop. being a tv repairman, I know that TV has high voltage risk inside and I will not advise you to open it or try to fix it by yourself. Safety is more important then any thing else. Hope you consider my advise.

Dear Sir/madam,

What it was was a fauty RC solinoid for the standby mode, It kept flicking on and of repeatedly, so quick that the picture didn't dop out but it did interfier with the sound and picture quality (and made a very anoyin clik clik noise) I recomend removing and replacing the solinoid unit which is located on the secondary circut board at the back behind the main board to the left viewing it from behind. What I did was remove the solinoid, pry open the case from the top and inserted a small piece of NON CONDUCTIVE plastic to fix the switch to ON ie coper to coper, that way you can no longer switch the set on/off with the remote but every thing else works fine eg vol, picture mode, chanell select, ect.

thanks
good luck

I believe that these are good quality televisions. You can probably get a universal remote that will work, but you might try a couple of things.

Did this problem just begin? Sometimes the remote can become accidentally deprogrammed. What sort of service do you have Direct TV? Cable? Do you have your setup manual? See if you can get a set up menu on the screen manually and if you can choose setup remote and go from there.

Sometimes just pushing the wrong button on the remote can create problems. I suppose you have already tried esc/exit/etc.etc. on the remote.

Here is the site where you might be able to get help from the company or a replacement remote.

Good luck to you.

Only two things can cause this problem.
1)either the remote is faulty or there is some moisture on the remote circuit board which hangs some functions for some time till the remote circuit is dried completely.
2)the second possibility is the faulty tv tuner card.

Better try to rule out the first possibility by drying ur remote with a hot air dryer if it doesnot work replace the remote n check.

thanks.

Hi,

This could be indicative of a front panel control/button that is stuck in place or in the remote itself. Pls check both for any buttons that may be out of normal position.

Incidentally, perhaps it may be to your advantage to post back the brand and model of your TV.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi,

The safest os to seek the services of a qualified professional. If however, you are considering a DIY (do-it-yourself), pls be reminded that this then would require familiarity with electronic components & circuitry, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. Access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings is a must.

    To your concern:

    • No video display, hissing sound. From the speakers or from the back of the TV?

    • If from the speakers, audio section is good, power supply probably partially good, probable fault video/horizontal/vertical sections.

    • If from the rear of the TV, then that would be your Flyback Transformer arcing, any ozone smell?

    • Incidentally, is there a mechanical ticking sound as well? If yes pls likewise check/replace 4700uF/16V capacitor near the heatsink.
If you are somewhere in Australia, you may want to consult GOCompany, phone (07) 3846 5666, fax (07) 3846 4701 for more assistance or parts availability.

Try replacing remote batteries first. If this does not work ensure that there is no object between remote and tv control panel.
Try also unplugging TV power cord for few minutes.
If this still does not work the remote is faulty, here you can get a replacement.

Well "teac tv model ctw3250s will not start up.
hissing sound from speakers" it is not a faulty remote. The tv does not start up at all, this is a faulty tv set.
Probably a faulty IC (jungle IC for example) or a capacitor or a different component on TV main pcb board.
You need a technician to fix this.
from first explanation I thought your remote was just not switching channels.
Call the number at the end of your manual to find out where to repair your TV, or ask a quote to a local repair shop.

  • Ginko
    Ginko Aug 15, 2008

Do you have picture on your TV when you say it switch on? If it just light the led is not switching on.
If you get picture but no other functions it is probably a front control panel pcb faulty.

  • Ginko
    Ginko Aug 15, 2008

Hissing noise and no picture on a tube TV means a faulty ballast, this is a job that cannot be fixed at home by the user.
If you want to fix your TV you will have to take it to a TV repair shop.

  • Ginko
    Ginko Aug 16, 2008

If you need service you can call the number at the end of your manual.

  • Ginko
    Ginko Aug 16, 2008

Can you get picture or not? If you do not get picture it is not the remote. If you get picture and does not change channels it is more likely the control panel than the remote.
Please tell us is picture is coming on your TV set or not.
    Thanks.

  • Ginko
    Ginko Aug 16, 2008

If there is no picture it is not a remote problem, apart experiencing same problem on own tvs, there are a couple of engineers around here that experienced the problem many times on someone else's tv. The remote is just putting the tv in stand by mode, the tv has an internal safety switch that keeps tv off as it recognises an internal problem , the typical clicking noise is the safety switch keeping your TV set off.
Remote has got nothing to do with this.
Probably it is not even a problem with tv controls, any burnt component on tv board will cause same phenomenon you are experiencing.

check manually can you change the channels.
of not the tuner card has gone bad.
if yes open the remote and clean the circuit board with little alcohol and then try.

Mitsubishi wd-73738 turns itself back on

Hi,

It sound like the remote is powering off the cable box but not the TV. The remote control may need to be reprogrammed to the TV. When you press power it may only power off the Cable box. At that point, try pressing the TV button on your remote and then Power. If it does not power off the tV after pressing the tV button, the remote may need to be reprogrammed to the tv. Cable companies usually have the codes needed to program their remotes to the TVs.

So the screen shows nothing, you just see an LED? It's likely just a burnt out bulb in the projector lamp. These should be easy to check and replace, it's really no different than changing a lightbulb in a lamp.
