I've taken the drain pump off...looks clear to me. discharge pipe is clear as well. still getting "LD". is there a common place things get plugged? if something went over the top of the tub, how would one get to it to clear the object? Help.......kids need clean clothes. wife's stress meter is pegged.

Washer is diplaying Ld and won't restart

Hi,

Ld stands for long drain.

Here is what the manufacture says about that error, my comments will follow.

LONG DRAIN If the drain time exceeds eight minutes, Ld will be displayed, the water valves will turn off, and the pump will stop running.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL to drain the machine. The display will be cleared and the machine will turn off after a maximum of eight minutes. Possible Causes/Procedure
1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects, and also make sure the hose from the tub to the pump is not plugged or kinked.
4. Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
5. Plug in2_bing.gif washer or reconnect power.
6. If the above does not correct the problem, go to step 7.
7. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
8. Replace the pump.

Phil's comments -----> This error is usually due to something getting stuck in the drain pump or drain hose, typically after washing a rug with a rubber backing that has come off or small articles like baby socks that were not put into a garment bag prior to washing.

To clean out the pump the machine would need disassembled and is best done by a service professional unless you are up for a good challenge.

I'm getting the LD message indicating that I'm having a drainage issue. I've taken the back off, inspected the hose and found nothing. The pump looks clear. I don't want to put it all back together...

make sure there is nothing in the hose the comes down from the tub to the drain pump.
there could also be something small in the drain pump that is slowing or stopping the impellar
make sure the connections are all in good order

''LD'' error

Hi there,
“LD” stands for “long drain,” meaning it took an excessively long time for water to drain out of the washer. Common causes for this are kinked drain hose or clothing, like panties or socks, caught in the pump suction hose. Why, I’ve even heard of bra wires coming loose and getting stuck in that hose, collecting all sorts of gookus and pinching off the flow of water to the pump. Can you imagine? Yea verily, as surely as the Sacred Suds doth eternally pass my lips, the “LD” error code springs forth from such anomalies.

Calypso top washer has an error of LD

LD is an error code indicating a “long drain”. If the water is not pumped out quick enough, you will get this error code. This model of washer has a revised pump/motor assembly that will improve the performance of pumping the water out. A poor pump out condition could also be caused by a failure of the drain check ball system. This is a chamber of the outer tub located on the lower rear section of the outer tub. If something gets lodged in the inlet or outlet port of the check ball chamber, you will have either a no drain condition or a poor drain condition. This would have to be checked to confirm.

Error code LD

I had this problem also. Ld means that it is taking too long for the tub to drain, usually something is clogged. Try taking a shop vac and sucking out the drain hose that goes into the wall drain. This should at least get you where the tub will finish the cycle you have going. I tried this and it worked for about 2 loads then "Ld" again. Finally removed the drain pump from the washer and let it empty completely. So far this has worked.

Ld error message

It most likely means long drain, the drain line could be clogged or kinked. You could also have something jamming the drain pump or a bad drain pump.
