Question about SanDisk Sansa E280 MP3 Player

Blue Screen of Death

Hello,

I added some music onto my Sansa and correctly disconnected it. It began to do it's Refresh Database, like it does every time I put in new music. However, before it finished the process, the entire screen went blank and turned into a blue/green/white screen with what seemed to be scrolling unaligned bars (or maybe tiny code?). I tried restarting it, but came to the same result. Is there any way of fixing it, or do I need to cash in on my warranty?

    I too have the same problem. I tried to reset by holding down the power button and this didn't work. I tried going into recovbery mode, but I didn't know what to do when the recovery mode screen was activated. I did a hard reset by popping out the battery, but this didn't work either. HELP!

    I tried updating the firmware. I'm not sure how this will help because the thing is completely comatose, but I tried. IT"S STILL BLUE AND STRIPY. I just got this 2 weeks ago, but it's a referb so it doesn't have a warranty. :( Please help me!

Stucked at Refresh database


When the Sansa reads "refreshing database," what it is doing is going through all the songs you've loaded on to it, pulling out the "tag" information (Artist, Album, Song Title, Genre) so it can add this information to its own database which it uses to display the songs to you in its menus.

If it gets stuck during this process, usually it's because of a corrupt song file, or a song file in a format it doesn't understand.

Note that the e280 is only able to play MP3 and WMA audio formats. If you've loaded a different type of audio file onto your Sansa, you'll need to remove them.

If the songs you've recently loaded have all been MP3 and/or WMA, you may have loaded a corrupted file onto your Sansa. Try removing the songs you recently added, and see if the problem goes away.

Sansa clip is stuck on Refresh Database Screen.


1ST: Just try to 'reset' by holding down the main center button AND pushing UP on the lock/off-on button, for about 8-9 seconds,
It will then 'refresh' the database, shouldn't lose anything,
OR:
MANY problems can be fixed ultimately by the following;
REFORMAT the SansaDisk Clip by finding it in My Computer and right click then just 'format' the thing. THEN drag and drop new music into it (or books), DRAG and DROP, you apparently erase the thing with a 'FORMAT' ....BUT - it's .sys files remain and it is like new {as in empty}
This usually fixes almost anything, should even erase a virus (I'm guessing) but shouldn't hurt it.

Busted?


Try to connected it back up to your computer in the msc mode and then disconnect it wait for it to refresh it's database and it should be working with titles.

You're not screwed... Just lock your sansa and then hold REC button when starting up your sansa. Connect your sansa to the computer. then a device called 16MB-FORMAT should be in My Computer. Put this file : "http://www.MegaShare.com/392319"
onto that device. Now disconnect your sansa from your computer, and let the sansa do everything it needs to do. Then it will restart.
Make sure you unlock it. After this your sansa should work fine.

Refresh database


I had the "Refresh Database" problem with my C250, it just sat there after turning it on! However, the GOOD NEWS is, I corrected it! First I connected it to my PC, then FORMATTED the unit. This gave me an empty player that at least would turn on. Then I downloaded the Sansa "Updater" from the SanDisk website. After setting up the updater software, I connected the C250. It automatically checked for any new firmware, and loaded it into the player. After that I restarted the C250 and it again came up OK without any music loaded. The last thing I did was to load only 1.8 GB worth of music files. My take on the problem is that if you overload the memory, or interupt a file while loading, then the "datbase" function never gets done. I've had mine running for about a week now without problems! Very weird...


'Refresh Database' doesn't mean everything is erased. It only means it's writing the progress that you made, onto the computer. It stays on 'Refresh Database' for about maybe 5-10 minutes. It refreshes its database every time you disconnect your MP3 player from the computer. What it does when you disconnect it from the computer is it saves any unsaved changes made to it and overwrites the memory or data.

Frozen on Refresh Database


Take out the four screws on the back and pop out the battery then put it back on. Make sure you synced the songs properly. Add to the problem how you added your songs and I might be able to help.
