Dave, it sounds like you have a fuel problem (or lack thereof). This is the biggest problem with mowers and it is 90 percent of the time, due to the carburetor getting gummed up and clogged. Your carb needs a good cleaning, especially if you've let it sit thru the winter with gas in it. If you don't know how to remove the carburetor and clean it, then this is better left to a professional and can probably be done at your local hardware store or lawn mower guy shop.
