Question about JVC TM-2703SU 27" TV

1 Answer

Hi I have a very annoying, ear piercing high frequency pitch coming from what seems to be the television. However, I was trouble shooting and based on the cable technicians thought; said to be the "dvr" box as the hard drives go out & known to have a high pitch. Well, dvr box is gone and noise is still piercing my ears... I have unplugged power source completely and left to sit for 3 hours... and, still making noise. This is a JVC purchased in 1999 and I cannot just go buy a replacement as everything went to flat screen and triple in price. Is this noise most likely something going out in the television or???? PLEASE ADVISE?

Hello
The LOT [Line Output Transformer] of your TV has damaged. It is the one, that supply all the voltaged needed to CRT. Its internal windings will get shorted in between, and is irreparable. Replacement is the only remedy to this proble. Replace the horizontal output transistor also with this. you haven't specified whether there is picture with your tV or not. If this high frequency sound is along with picture, there is some loose in the cores of the SMPS transformer, or LOT itsef. If there is no picture at all, and this high frequency sound is there, no doubt; LOT is damaged. OK.

Hi, Barry ear piercing conjures up high pitch whine/screech which is a candidate for a faulty bearing I would love to help you with your engine or chassis noise but I just loaned my brand new pair of listening ears to your local dealer's chief technician so he could take your bike for a test ride and give you his professional opinion and estimate about your noise and repair cost. Some things I would check are do you have blue tooth in operation. Do you have any form of michrophone in the cab as it sounds like a feed back problem coming through your speakers. Talk to a radio techie to see what he thinks

High pitch frequency noise coming from rear of TV and is very annoying to listen too. It is a constant noise and is more apparent when there is more black color on screen.

High pitch sound on LC-42D62 is reproduced by switching transformers on power supply board. To correct this problem, you will need to remove power supply unit from the TV, spray all transformers with SILICONE CONFORMAL COATING. Let it dry for 12Hrs. Then install power supply unit back.

High pitched noise coming from set.

hi there high pitched noise form the set indicates that one of the coils inside the set are lose this happens with age and heat the coils are made of copper and are tightly glued or soldered together and can be as small as a bit of hair of as big as a pen tip the problem is that the coil is now vibrating which is causing the high pitch sound and sound be quite easy to identify with a good ear!

sometimes these can be sorted with a quick bit of solder to hold it in place on the main bord of where the coil is, but some times there is no cure due to very small braiding of the copper wire any attempt to solder may cause damage and breakage,

You may be able to replace the coil with another one from a good components store with the same value best thing is to take out the noisy coil and take it down to be replaced

the reason it appears worse when first turn one is that the coil is cold and vibrates alot more just like when the set is warm the coil expands like most metals do which stops it vibrating so much

i hope this helps a little good luck
