There could be a loose video connection. Try reseating the LCD screen video connector on the motherboard.

Check on the ram, power adapter cable, battery and if that is not the case try to see if you can repair windows xp. Otherwise it could be that the motherboard is damage

Nx7010 does not start.

Hello dear, probably some BIOS values changed, causing u no displays. Try this key combination immediately after startup

esc - loads bios, but not in display
F9 - (hope its F9 in ur laptop) resets BIOS
F10 - saves BIOS to default values and exits

Or else try removing CMOS battery, its right beneath the keyboard. (Just remove 1 screw) Remove and hold for 1 minute and then reinsert and turn up laptop on. Your PC should be fine.

Have compaq nx7010 can power up but screen blank and hard disc light (between power and mains power symbols) not staying on. have tried removing battery and refitting which has worked once before but now...

The HDD light is not meant to be on solid, it comes on only when the hard drive is actually working. The situation you're describing is usually just a lockup in standby.

Although you're onthe right track with the battery, To reset the power, unplug the AC cord, remove the battery and then hold the power button for 30 seconds. Now put the battery back plug it in and turn it on. It may give you an error about not being able to resume, this is normal.

If this doesn't work get back to us with more info: does it beep when it turns on, how many times, longs/shorts.

Did you try plugging and external monitor into the laptop and rotating displays to see if your backlight is out?

Ok, giver a try and let us know.

I have a hp compaq nx7010 that powers but cant display. the screen if fine ,i have tested it on anoth machine and it is showing what can be the problem?

Try the holding the fn button and pressing the display button to change the output display from external to the initial display. If this doesn't work then attach an external display, if it works then try switching back from the external to the LCD. If that doesnt work then Hold the fn button and set the brightness of the LCD to its fullest by pressing the correct key on the keyboard.

hope this helps

HP compaq nx 7010

Sorry to dissappoint You mate, but NX7010 has no built-in microphone... VERY illogical design, for its time, but it's the sad truth. Buy an external one, plug it in and You shall see, that the sliders and tickers are suddenly working.

Laptop not turning on

you would atleast be able to access the bios if it was just the hard drive issue.

If you are running just off the battery try running with your power supply on it and see if that does anything else

if not you may have a short in the power supply some where.
