I have a smartdisk PB40 digi photobank, I have just upgraded my camera which I am using with SDHC cards (can't find anyhwhere that has SD cards with a large memory 2gb the biggest) but my photobank will not download from SDHC cards, is there anything that can be done to remedy this. I have used my photobox very little as I only use it when going on holiday to various game reserves so it is pretty much brand new. hoping you can help Alan

What is the largest sd the pb80 will read?

I believe it is 4GB. Another user had a similar question in which he was not able to use an 8GB card but was able to use a 2GB and 4GB one. IF in doubt, the manufacturer will be able to give you this information.

A friend formated my Photobank PB40 and now It will not recieve the photos when I try to download them, what can I do

You cannot reformat using Windows or your card reader will not longer work. You need to use the Fat32 formatting tool. It's still available on the Verbatim website (They bought SmartDisk)
http://www.verbatim.com/support/support.cfm?open=Downloads
Select-Hardware Storage-Portable Drives. You should see a heading on the right for Downloads. Select the Verbatim Fat32 download tool. Download the tool. Connect your PhotoBank to your computer with the mini-USB cable and then run the Fat32 tool you just downloaded. Follow the prompts to reformat the PhotoBank. Your card reader and hard drive will be good as new.

Smartdisk PB40 reports 0.8 Gb space, Windows Vista reports 37,2 G

once you have deleted the SmartDisk folders, try going to the desktop and dumping the "recycle bin" there as well

SmartDisk turns on, has a blue light but shows no icons. I was in the process of copying from my camera. I turned on the SmartDisk, it showed a file icon and the HDD icon. I pressed copy and it...

I had the same problem but it felt like the drive was working. I took a chance, inserterd a 4GB CF card, and pressed the copy button. I hoped it would shut off after the copy was made due to the 30 second inactiviy timeout. After about 10 minutes, the blue backlight to turned off and it powered down. I plugged the Photobank into a laptop via USB cable and checked the original CF card files against the Photobank files. Success! All files were copied!

I have a Smartdisk PB80 PhotoBank

I have a pb80, and I found that it would not read SD above 2 g.
It reads a 2 g fine, but not a 4 g.
I also have a reader with the same problem. I replaced the reader with a different model, and it works fine. Planned obsolence.

Smartdisk photobank

Negitive... I had the same problem.  I had to borrow my friends PC to Format!  But guess what!  1 Year Later and with SmartDisk out of business I was able to go back and copy the software!  Sweet! Feel free to use it from my site: http://yardenreport.blogspot.com/
